Georgia State Route 285
State Route 285 (SR 285) is a west-east state highway located in the southwestern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. Route description SR 285 begins at an intersection with SR 91 southwest of Donalsonville, in Seminole County, where the roadway continues as Butler Ferry Road. The route heads southeast along River Road for a short distance before turning and running nearly due east through rural portions of Seminole County. On its way through Seminole County, it intersects SR 39. Almost immediately after entering Decatur County, the route meets its eastern terminus, an intersection with US 84/ SR 38 just west of Brinson. Donalsonville, Georgia
Donalsonville is a city in and the county seat of Seminole County, Georgia, United States. The population was 2,650 at the 2010 census. History Donalsonville was originally part of Decatur County. It is named after John Ernest Donalson (1846–1920), also known as Jonathan or John E. Donalson, a prominent businessman of the area. Donalson built the first lumber mill in Donalsonville, Donalson Lumber Company. He also built homes and a commissary for the workers of the mill. The lumber company paved the way for the town's growth. Donalsonville was first chartered as a town in Georgia on December 8, 1897. When Seminole County was formed in January 1920, Donalsonville was named as its county seat. By August 1922, the Town of Donalsonville became known as the City of Donalsonville, with the charter passing on August 19, 1922. Brinson is a town in Decatur County, Georgia, United States. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 217. History Variant names were "Mount Zion and "Spring Creek. Simeon Brinson, an early postmaster and first mayor, gave the town its present name. The Georgia General Assembly incorporated the place as the "Town of Brinson" in 1907. Decatur County is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2010 census, the population was 27,842. The county seat is Bainbridge. Decatur County comprises the Bainbridge, GA Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is included in the Tallahassee-Bainbridge, FL-GA Combined Statistical Area. History The county was created by an act of the Georgia General Assembly on December 8, 1823, from a portion of Early County.
