Georgia State Route 192 Spur (Twin City)
State Route 192 (SR 192) is a state highway that runs south-to-north in an eastern arc around Swainsboro through portions of Emanuel County in the east-central part of the U.S. state of Georgia. Route description SR 192 begins at an intersection with US 1/ SR 4 just north of Oak Park. It heads east into Stillmore, where it intersects SR 57 (2nd Street). The route continues east for about two blocks. Then, it turns north and curves to the northeast until it enters Twin City. There, it meets SR 23, and then US 80/ SR 26. SR 192 continues to the north and curves to the northwest until it meets its southern terminus at SR 56 (Covena Road) in Summertown. Oak Park, Georgia
Oak Park is a city in Emanuel County, Georgia, United States. In 1934 the town got national attention when it elected a municipal government that entirely consisted of women. The population was 484 at the 2010 census, up from 366 in 2000. History The town was originally named Sol, Georgia from June to August of 1880 then the town name was changed to Horace, Georgia. The town name was later changed to Oak Park, Georgia in 1904. In 1914 a murder–suicide committed by local farmer J.A. Eubanks got national news coverage. He murdered his wife and two daughters with an axe, set fire to some farm buildings, and shot himself in the head. Before killing himself, he woke a neighbor and told them what he had done. He did leave a suicide note. Several structures were destroyed in the fire, including houses of others. He had even cut the rope for the well bucket to keep the fire from being put out. State Route 57 (SR 57) is a state highway that travels northwest-to-southeast through portions of Bibb, Jones, Twiggs, Wilkinson, Washington, Johnson, Emanuel, Candler, Tattnall, Long, and McIntosh counties in the central and southeastern parts of the U.S. state of Georgia. The route connects the eastern part of the Macon area to the Eulonia area, via Swainsboro. A decommissioned highway is a highway that has been removed from service by being shut down, or has had its authorization as a national, provincial or state highway removed, the latter also referred to as downloading. Concurrency (road)
A concurrency in a road network is an instance of one physical roadway bearing two or more different route numbers. When two roadways share the same right-of-way, it is sometimes called a common section or commons. Other terminology for a concurrency includes overlap, coincidence, duplex (two concurrent routes), triplex (three concurrent routes), multiplex (any number of concurrent routes), dual routing or triple routing. Concurrent numbering can become very common in jurisdictions that allow it. Where multiple routes must pass between a single mountain crossing or over a bridge, or through a major city, it is often economically and practically advantageous for them all to be accommodated on a single physical roadway. GDOT
The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is the organization in charge of developing and maintaining all state and federal roadways in the U.S. state of Georgia. In addition to highways, the department also has a limited role in developing public transportation and general aviation programs. Spur Route
A spur route is a short road forming a branch from a longer, more important road such as a freeway, Interstate Highway, or motorway. A bypass or beltway should not be considered a true spur route as it typically reconnects with another or the same major road.
