State Route 147 (SR 147) is a state highway that runs west-to-east through portions of Toombs and Tattnall counties in the east-central part of the U.S. state of Georgia. Route description SR 147 begins at an intersection with U.S. Route 1 (US 1)/ SR 4/ SR 15 north of its crossing of the Altamaha River in southern Toombs County. The road heads to the northeast to an intersection with SR 178. The two highways run concurrent for . It then heads northeast to its eastern terminus an intersection with US 280/ SR 30 in Reidsville. SR 147 is not part of the National Highway System. State Route 15 (SR 15) is a state highway that travels south-to-north across the entire length of the U.S. state of Georgia, east of its centerline. This route is part of a multi two-state route 15 that begins at Florida and ends at Georgia at the North Carolina state line. It connects the Florida state line, south-southeast of Folkston with the North Carolina state line, in Dillard, via Folkston, Vidalia, Sandersville, Athens, Demorest, and Clayton. Concurrency (road)
A concurrency in a road network is an instance of one physical roadway bearing two or more different route numbers. When two roadways share the same right-of-way, it is sometimes called a common section or commons. Other terminology for a concurrency includes overlap, coincidence, duplex (two concurrent routes), triplex (three concurrent routes), multiplex (any number of concurrent routes), dual routing or triple routing. The Altamaha River is a major river in the U.S. state of Georgia. It flows generally eastward for 137 miles (220 km) from its origin at the confluence of the Oconee River and Ocmulgee River towards the Atlantic Ocean, where it empties into the ocean near Brunswick, Georgia. Reidsville, Georgia
Reidsville is a city in, and county seat of, Tattnall County, Georgia. The population was 4,944 at the 2010 census. The Georgia State Prison is near Reidsville. History Reidsville was founded in about 1828 and was designated county seat of Tattnall County in 1832 by the Georgia General Assembly. It was incorporated as a town in 1838 and as a city in 1905. The city was named after Robert R. Reid, territorial governor of Florida. Reidsville is home to the Nelson Hotel Bed & Breakfast. During the events of World War II, Reidsville was the home to at least one, though some reports suggest two, prisoner of war camps for captured Nazi personnel. The prison camp's location has largely been lost to time, but is believed to have stood near the current location of a gas station/self-storage company, near the fringes of the city.
