Georgia's Congressional Districts
Georgia is represented in the United States House of Representatives by 14 elected representatives, each campaigning and receiving votes in only one district of the 14. After the 2000 census, the State of Georgia was divided into 13 congressional districts, increasing from 11 due to reapportionment. The state was redistricted again in 2005, and 2007, although the number of districts remained 13. In 2013, the number of representatives increased again with rising population to 14 members. Marietta, Georgia
Marietta is a city in and the county seat of Cobb County, Georgia, United States. At the 2020 census, the city had a population of 60,972. The 2019 estimate was 60,867, making it one of Atlanta's largest suburbs. Marietta is the fourth largest of the principal cities by population of the Atlanta metropolitan area. History Etymology The origin of the name is uncertain. It is believed that the city was named for Mary Cobb, the wife of the U.S. Senator and Superior Court judge Thomas Willis Cobb. Lucy McBath
Lucia Kay McBath (née Holman; born June 1, 1960) is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative from Georgia's 6th congressional district. The district, once represented by Republican Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, includes many of Atlanta's affluent northern suburbs, such as Alpharetta, Roswell, Johns Creek, Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Brookhaven, and parts of Tucker and Marietta. McBath is a member of the Democratic Party. McBath's son, Jordan Davis, was murdered in November 2012. She then became an advocate for gun control, joining other mothers of black murder victims to form the Mothers of the Movement, and spoke at the 2016 Democratic National Convention. Suwanee, Georgia
Suwanee is a city in Gwinnett County and a northeastern suburb of Atlanta in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2010 census, the population was 15,355; this had grown to an estimated 20,907 as of 2019. Portions of Forsyth and Fulton counties also have Suwanee and its ZIP Code (30024) as a mailing address. History Early history Suwanee, as did most towns in Georgia, started out as a Native American village. It was built on the Chattahoochee River, where societies flourished. Richard Dean McCormick (born October 7, 1968) is an American politician and physician. He has represented in the United States House of Representatives since 2023. Education and military service McCormick was born in Las Vegas in 1968 and graduated from Central Catholic High School in Portland, Oregon in 1986. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Oregon State University in 1990. He earned his Master of Business Administration from National University in 1999 and his Doctor of Medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine in 2010. He served in the United States Marine Corps and United States Navy for over 20 years. In the Marine Corps, he was a helicopter pilot and in the Navy, he reached the rank of commander. She was a member of the Georgia State Senate for the 39th district before her House campaign. She is also the chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia.
