Georges Ohnet
Georges Ohnet (3 April 1848, in Paris – 5 May 1918) was a French novelist. Life and career Ohnet was educated at the Collège Sainte-Barbe and the Lycée Napoléon. After the Franco-Prussian War he became editor of the magazines ''Pays'' and ''Constitutionnel'' in succession. In collaboration with the engineer and dramatist Louis Denayrouze (b. 1848) he produced the play '' Regina Sarpi'', and during 1877 '' Marthe''. Ohnet was an admirer of Georges Sand and was opposed to realistic modern novels. He began a series of novels, '' Les Batailles de la vie'', of a character simple and idealistic, which, although scorned by the critics as unreal and commonplace, were very popular. Augusto Genina
Augusto Genina (28 January 1892 – 18 September 1957) was an Italian film pioneer. He was a movie producer and director. Biography Born in Rome, Genina was a drama critic and wrote comedies for the ''Il Mondo'' Magazine, under advise of Aldo de Benedetti switches to movies for the "Film d'Arte Italiana", that produces his first film "La moglie di sua eccellenza". In 1929 Genina moved to France to direct Louise Brooks in sonorized film ''Miss Europe''. He studied sound techniques and worked in France and Germany in same but alternate languages film versions which were filmed simultaneously, before his return to Italy. He won Venice Film Festival Mussolini's cup for Best Italian Film twice, in 1936 by ''Lo squadrone bianco'' and in 1940 by ''The Siege of the Alcazar'', both Fascist propaganda films. Gianpaolo Rosmino (2 July 1888 – 20 July 1982) was an Italian actor and film director. Rosmino enjoyed a lengthy screen career. After making his debut in the silent era in 1913 he appeared in more than 80 films and television series up to 1965. Roberto Roberti
Vincenzo Leone (24 July 1879 – 10 January 1959), known professionally as Roberto Roberti, was an Italian actor, screenwriter and film director. He made over sixty films, mostly during the silent era. He was married to the actress Bice Valerian. Their son Sergio Leone became a celebrated director. During the 1910s Roberti made a number of films for the Turin-based Aquila Films, often featuring his wife in a leading role. He then moved to Caesar Film where he directed eighteen films starring the diva Francesca Bertini. ''The King of Paris'' (Russian:Король Парижа, translit:Korol' Parizha) is a 1917 Russian silent feature film directed by Yevgeni Bauer. The film was shot in the cinema factory of Aleksandr Khanzhonkov in Yalta. This was the last work of Yevgeni Bauer. As he worked on his previous film, ''For Happiness'' (ru: «За счастьем»), Bauer broke his leg, and he shot this film while in a bathchair, but soon fell ill with pneumonia. He began shooting in early summer of 1917, but he was soon placed in Yalta hospital and on 9 June 1917 he died. Actress Olga Rakhmanova finished the film. Frank William George Lloyd (2 February 1886 – 10 August 1960) was a British-born American film director, actor, scriptwriter, and producer. He was among the founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and was its president from 1934 to 1935. Biography Lloyd was born in Glasgow, Scotland. His mother Jane was Scottish and his father Edmund was Welsh. Lloyd started his career as a singer and stage actor in London.
