Georges Mayrand
Georges Mayrand (August 21, 1876 – January 20, 1951) was a Canadian politician. Born in Saint-Charles-de-Grondines, Quebec, Mayrand was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Quebec for Montréal-Dorion in 1912. A Liberal, he was re-elected in 1916 and defeated in 1919. Legislative Assembly Of Quebec
The Legislative Assembly of Quebec (French: ''Assemblée législative du Québec'') was the name of the lower house of Quebec's legislature from 1867 to December 31, 1968, when it was renamed the National Assembly of Quebec. At the same time, the upper house of the legislature, the Legislative Council, was abolished. Both were initially created by the Constitution Act, 1867. It was the Union Nationale government of Premier Jean-Jacques Bertrand that passed the "Bill 90" legislation to abolish the upper house, but earlier attempts had been made by earlier governments. The presiding officer of the Assembly was known in French as ''orateur'', a literal translation of the English term, ''speaker''. When the Assembly was renamed so too was the title of its presiding officer, becoming known as the President. Today, Quebec has a unicameral legislature, whose single house is the National Assembly. Montréal-Dorion
Montréal-Dorion was a former provincial electoral district in the Montreal region of Quebec, Canada that elected members to the Legislative Assembly of Quebec. It was created for the 1912 election from part of Hochelaga electoral district. Its final election was in 1936. It disappeared in the 1939 election and its successor electoral districts were Montréal–Jeanne-Mance and Montréal-Mercier. Aurèle Lacombe (January 28, 1887 – March 6, 1963) was a politician Quebec, Canada and a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Quebec (MLA). Early life He was born on January 28, 1887, in Sainte-Scholastique, Laurentides (now part of Mirabel, Quebec). He was a union activist. Political career He ran as a Labour candidate in the district of Montréal-Dorion in the 1919 provincial election and won against Liberal incumbent Georges Mayrand. Lacombe kept the Labor label, but was appointed Minister without Portfolio in Alexandre Taschereau's Cabinet on September 27, 1921. The Quebec Liberal Party (QLP; french: Parti libéral du Québec, PLQ) is a provincial political party in Quebec. It has been independent of the federal Liberal Party of Canada since 1955.
