	George Whittaker (Canadian Politician) George Herbert Whittaker (22 December 1919 – 26 August 2013) was a Progressive Conservative party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was an orchardist and farmer by career. He represented British Columbia's Okanagan Boundary electoral district which he won in the 1972 federal election. He was re-elected in the 1974 and 1979 federal elections, thus serving three successive terms from the 29th to 31st Canadian Parliament The 31st Canadian Parliament was a briefly lived parliament in session from October 9 until December 14, 1979. The membership was set by the 1979 federal election on May 22, 1979, and it was dissolved after the minority government of Joe Clark ...s. 	George Whittaker (rowing) George Alexander Whittaker (born 6 December 1981) is a former British rower. Profile Whilst in education at Abingdon School he gained colours for the Abingdon School Boat Club. After leaving Abingdon in 1999 he attended the University of London followed by Imperial College London and Oriel College, Oxford. Rowing Whittaker came to prominence in 2007 after he won the prestigious Scullers Head of the River Race representing Imperial College at the time. Following this he started rowing for the Oriel College Boat Club and in 2011 secured the number seven seat in the Oxford dark blue boat at the world renowned Boat Race Boat racing is a sport in which boats, or other types of watercraft, race on water. 	George Byrom Whittaker George Byrom Whittaker (1793–1847) was an English bookseller and publisher. Life Born at Southampton in March 1793, he was the son of the Rev. George Whittaker, master of the grammar school. About 1814 he became a partner of Charles Law, wholesale bookseller, Ave Maria Lane, London, a house established by W. Bidwell Law (d. 1798). Whittaker brought capital and dynamism into the business. One enterprise was the publication of a translation of Georges Cuvier's ‘Animal Kingdom,’ in sixteen volumes, with many coloured plates. In 1824 he served as sheriff of London and Middlesex. He published for Frances Trollope, Colley Grattan, George Croly, and Mary Russell Mitford. The last novel of Sir Walter Scott came out with his imprint and his firm published in London all Scott's early collected editions.
