George Washington Community High School
George Washington Community High School is a public school located in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States, serving grades 9–12. About The school originally opened in 1927 as a traditional high school in the Haughville neighborhood of Indianapolis. It ceased operations as a high school in 1995 due to waning enrollment within IPS, but was re-established in 2000 in its current form. The school is operated by the Indianapolis Public Schools system. Enrollment is approximately 575 students. It is referred to as Indianapolis Washington by the IHSAA. Athletics George Washington Community High School's athletic teams are named the Continentals. The Continentals have won two Indiana High School Athletic Association State Championships in boys' basketball (1964–65 and 1968–69). Indiana State University (ISU) is a public university in Terre Haute, Indiana. It was founded in 1865 and offers over 100 undergraduate majors and more than 75 graduate and professional programs. George McGinnis
George F. McGinnis (born August 10, 1950) is an American former professional basketball player who played 11 seasons in the American Basketball Association (ABA) and National Basketball Association (NBA). He was drafted into the ABA from Indiana University in 1971. Early life McGinnis attended Washington High School in Indianapolis. He and teammate Steve Downing led Washington to a 31–0 record and a state championship in 1969. McGinnis set an Indiana state tournament scoring record with 148 points in his final four games. He was also named Mr. Basketball for the state of Indiana that year. College career In the 1970–71 season at Indiana, McGinnis became the first sophomore to lead the Big Ten in scoring and rebounding. The Indiana Pacers are an American professional basketball team based in Indianapolis. The Pacers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league's Eastern Conference Central Division.
