''George Washington Cohen'' is a 1928 American silent comedy drama film directed by George Archainbaud and starring George Jessel, Robert Edeson and Corliss Palmer. It was based on a vaudeville sketch ''The Cherry Tree'' by Aaron Hoffman.Goble p.225 It was produced and released by Tiffany Pictures during John M. Stahl's period as head of production for the studio. survives in Cinematheque Francais. Synopsis A naïve young man discovers a wallet in the street and returns it to its owner, wealthy Wall Street banker Gorman. Gorman is so impressed with his honesty that he gives the man, George Washington Cohen, a well-paid job. However, due to his inherent honesty Cohen feels duty bound to inform Gorman when he discovers his wife is having an affair. Gorman sues for divorce, and calls Cohen as the lead witness. George Archainbaud
George Archainbaud (May 7, 1890 – February 20, 1959) was a French-American film and television director. Biography In the beginning of his career he worked on stage as an actor and manager. He came to the United States in January 1914, and started his film career as an assistant director to Emile Chautard at the World Film Company in Fort Lee, New Jersey. In 1917 he made his own directorial debut '' As Man Made Her''. During the next three and a half decades he directed over one hundred films. After the beginning of the 1950s he moved to television. While working at RKO Radio Pictures in the beginning of the 1930s, he showed some artistic and skillful eye with many of his films. Edna Mae Cooper (July 19, 1900 – June 27, 1986) was an American actress of the silent era. She appeared in 79 films between 1911 and 1927. Early life On July 19, 1900, Cooper was born in Baltimore, Maryland. Career Cooper is known for her performances in ''Men, Women, and Money'' (1919), ''Grounds for Divorce'' (1925), and ''The Ten Commandments'' (1956). Bobbi Trout asked starlet Edna Mae Cooper if she wanted to go with her to attempt another endurance run. They first attempted the flight on January 1, 1931 but due to technical problems they had to abort the flight. At their next attempt, they were successful in flying straight for 122 hours and 50 minutes, only to end the run on January 9, 1931 due to the spitting off fuel. This was another record broken by Trout, and was later recognized by King Carol II of Romania, who representative gave her the Royal Decree and the aviation cross for pilots who made record flights, a distinction only given to two other pilots ...

Paul Wolfgang Panzerbeiter (November 3, 1872 – August 16, 1958), known professionally as Paul Panzer, was a German-American silent film actor. He appeared in more than 330 films between 1905 and 1952. Biography Panzer was born in Würzburg.Bavaria. His education included studying pharmacy at the University of Wurzburg and studying vocal music at the Conservatory of Wurzburg. He was a lieutenant in German's artillery reserves when he left there. Panzer's early work building sets and painting scenes for a New York City film studio developed his interest in the film industry.
