George William Taylor, (born November 5, 1937) is a former politician in Ontario, Canada. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1977 to 1985, and was a cabinet minister in the government of Bill Davis, William Davis. Taylor was a member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario, Progressive Conservative Party. Background Taylor was born in Hamilton, Ontario, and educated at McMaster University (received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1960) and the Osgoode Hall Law School. He practiced as a lawyer in Barrie, Ontario, Barrie, taught business law at Georgian College for ten years, and was named a Queen's Counsel in 1977. As of 2005, he is director of the United Appeal in Barrie, Ontario, Barrie, director of the Barrie YMCA, YM-YWCA and campaign chairman for the Canadian Cancer Society. A Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) is an elected member of the Legislative Assembly of the Canadian province of Ontario. Elsewhere in Canada, the titular designation "Member of Provincial Parliament" has also been used to refer to members of the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada from 1791 to 1838, and to members of the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1955 to 1968.
