George Simpkin
George Dreadon Simpkin (22 May 1943 – 7 May 2020) was a New Zealand rugby union coach, known for working with the national teams of Fiji, Hong Kong and Sri Lanka. He made a great contribution to the development of rugby union and rugby sevens in those countries. Biography Early coaching career A native of Northland, he taught at Matamata College, where he began his coaching career in 1966 as a physical education teacher and Rugby coach, leading the Matamata College 1st XV on a groundbreaking (for a schoolboys team) tour of Wales at the end of 1974. At the time, the team was the holder of the Tricolour Trophy. Between 1976 and 1984. Simpkin coached Waikato and achieved 56 victories in a row. Northland (New Zealand Electorate)
Northland is a New Zealand parliamentary electorate, returning one Member of Parliament to the New Zealand House of Representatives. The electorate was established for the 1996 election. It was represented by National Party MP John Carter from 1996 to 2011, and then National's Mike Sabin until his resignation on 30 January 2015. The by-election in March 2015 was won by New Zealand First party leader Winston Peters. Peters was defeated by National's Matt King in the 2017 general election. Samisoni Viriviri (1953 - 28 April 2021, Sacramento, USA) was a Fijian rugby union footballer and coach. He played as a scrum-half. He is grandfather of his namesake; Samisoni Viriviri, who plays as wing for Fiji. Playing career His first cap for Fiji was during a match against Australia, at Brisbane, on 9 June 1976. His last cap was during a match against England XV, at Twickenham, on 16 October 1982. In his career he played 24 matches and scored 12 points, 1 try, 1 penalty, 1 drop goal and 1 conversion. He was also part of the legendary 1977 Fiji XV that beat the British and Irish Lions in Suva. Andrew Philip Mehrtens (born 28 April 1973) is a New Zealand former rugby union player. He was regarded as a top first five-eighth, having played first for Canterbury in 1993, before being selected for the All Blacks (New Zealand's national team) in 1995 when he played in the 1995 World Cup. After his move to England, and later to France, he helped his first three clubs to promotion into their country's top flight. He first joined Harlequins in England, where in his first season he played a major factor in leading the freshly relegated club to an immediate return to the top-level Guinness Premiership. A tee is a stand used in sport to support and elevate a stationary ball prior to striking with a foot, club or bat. Tees are used extensively in golf, tee-ball, baseball, American football, and rugby. Etymology The word tee is derived from the Scottish Gaelic word '' taigh'' meaning house and is related to the 'house' (the coloured circles) in curling. The Sri Lanka Sevens is an annual international rugby sevens tournament held in Sri Lanka. Sponsored by telecommunications provider Dialog Axiata, Dialog, the event has been part of the Asian Sevens Series since 2015. It was founded in 1999 as the Singer Sri Lankan Airlines Rugby 7s. For ten seasons from 1999 to 2008, the tournament was hosted by the Kandy Sports Club (rugby), Kandy Sports Club at the Bogambara Stadium in Kandy. National men's teams from Asia and Europe were regular competitors. The event moved to Colombo for the 2009 and 2010 seasons after the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union formed a partnership with the Namal Rajapaksa#Tharunyata Hetak, Tharunyata Hetak youth organisation to organise the Sri Lanka Sevens tournament. Kazakhstan National Rugby Union Team
The Kazakhstan national rugby union team, nicknamed "The Nomads", is controlled by the Kazakhstan Rugby Union. Kazakhstan have been participating in international competition since 1994 after their independence from the USSR. In 2007, the fortunes of the team greatly improved by winning all five of their matches and rising 14 places in the IRB World Rankings to 32nd. The People's Liberation Army (PLA) is the principal military force of the People's Republic of China and the armed wing of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
