George Seymour (Australian Politician)
George Nathan Seymour is an Australian politician currently serving as the Mayor of Fraser Coast Region in Queensland. Prior to his election to the mayoralty in a 2018 by-election, Seymour served as the Deputy mayor of Fraser Coast from 2013 to 2018, and the Councillor for Division 10 from 2012 to 2018. He also served as Acting Mayor between February and May 2018. He is the Deputy Chairperson of the Queensland Heritage Council The Queensland Heritage Council is an independent statutory authority created by the Queensland Parliament under the ''Queensland Heritage Act 1992''. Fraser Coast Region
The Fraser Coast Region is a local government area in the Wide Bay–Burnett region of Queensland, Australia, about north of Brisbane, the state capital. It is centred on the twin cities of Hervey Bay and Maryborough and also contains Fraser Island. It was created in 2008 from a merger of the Cities of Maryborough and Hervey Bay and the Shires of Woocoo and most of Tiaro. In June 2018 it had a population of 105,463. The University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) is a public university based on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. After opening with 524 students in 1996 as the Sunshine Coast University College, it was later renamed the University of the Sunshine Coast in 1999. Cecil Lowther (Bannerman)
Major General Sir (Henry) Cecil Lowther, (1 January 1869 – 1 November 1940) was a British general and Conservative politician, big-game hunter and adventurer. Career Born in Ampthill, Bedfordshire, he was the fourth son of William Lowther. Educated at Clifton College, he was commissioned into the Scots Guards as a second lieutenant on 29 December 1888, promoted to lieutenant on 13 April 1892, and to captain on 24 June 1899. When the Second Boer War broke out in October 1899, the 1st Battalion of the Scots Guards departed Ireland for South Africa to join up with the 1st Guards Brigade, with Lowther appointed as the battalion's adjutant. They reached that country in November, and immediately saw action in the battles of Belmont and Modder River, both British victories, though at a heavy cost in British life. Philip Oliver Ellard Hawkes
Philip Oliver Ellard Hawkes was an architect who practiced in the Wide Bay area of Queensland, Australia, from 1910 to 1942. A number of his works are heritage-listed. Early life Hawkes was born in 1882 in New South Wales. Architectural career Hawkes worked in Perth, Launceston and Melbourne. Moving to Queensland, he worked briefly for the Works Department in 1909 before setting up his own practice in Bundaberg and Maryborough in 1910. He designed a number of premises for the Queensland National Bank; most of these were simple timber buildings, although the Kingaroy branch was a two storey masonry building, also in a Classical Revival style. This also featured round headed arches as do the Carroll Cottage and Carrollee Hotel in Kingaroy, which were also designed by Hawkes.
