George Rose (American Football)
George Lee Rose (January 1, 1942 – January 19, 2023) was an American professional American football, football cornerback in the National Football League (NFL). He played four seasons for the Minnesota Vikings (1964–1966) and the New Orleans Saints (1967). Rose died in Brunswick, Georgia, on January 19, 2023, at the age of 81. George Rose (Navy Member)
George Harry Rose (February 28, 1880 – December 7, 1932) was a member of the United States Navy and a recipient of the United States military's highest decoration—the Medal of Honor—for his actions during the China Relief Expedition. Biography Rose enlisted in the Navy from his birth state of Connecticut and served on the cruiser as a seaman. During the China Relief Expedition of 1900, ''Newark'', serving as flagship for the Assistant Commander of the Asiatic Station, was brought to the Beijing (Peking) area to protect Americans who were under threat from the Boxer Rebellion. Rose voluntarily took part in land operations there in May and June 1900, distinguishing himself on several occasions, among them carrying dispatches on June 10, helping to fight off an attack on his unit's baggage train on the 13th, engaging in combat from June 20, to June 22, and obtaining medical supplies from an enemy-held village. George Rose (born December 23, 1952) is an American photographer and writer whose career has included work for the National Football League, ''Rolling Stone'', ''Time'', ''Life'', ''Newsweek'', ''Sports Illustrated'', ''USA Today'' and the ''Los Angeles Times''. He spent 20 years in the California wine industry, holding prominent public relations positions while amassing a significant body of award-winning food and wine photography. Early career A graduate of Ganesha High School in Pomona, California, George Rose's newspaper and photographic career began in the early 1970s when he worked as a copy messenger for the ''Pomona Progress-Bulletin''. ''George M!'' is a Broadway musical based on the life of George M. Cohan, the biggest Broadway star of his day who was known as "The Man Who Owned Broadway." The book for the musical was written by Michael Stewart, John Pascal, and Francine Pascal. Music and lyrics were by George M. Cohan himself, with revisions for the musical by Cohan's daughter, Mary Cohan. The story covers the period from the late 1880s until 1937 and focuses on Cohan's life and show business career from his early days in vaudeville with his parents and sister to his later success as a Broadway singer, dancer, composer, lyricist, theatre director and producer. Dorchester Railroad
The Dorchester Railroad and Dorchester Extension Railroad was a horse car line in Boston, Massachusetts in the late 19th century, running from downtown south to Milton, mostly via Dorchester Avenue (the old Dorchester Turnpike). For several years, it was operated by Gore, Rose and Company, owned by David Gore and George Rose, because the original company could not afford to run it. The Dorchester Avenue Railroad was chartered April 29, 1854, opened in spring 1857, and bought by the Dorchester Railroad (chartered April 29, 1855) in January 1858. The Dorchester Extension Railroad was chartered February 18, 1855. Both were leased to Gore, Rose and Company, which operated the line from June 1, 1858 to 1862. George Rose (born 13 March 1983) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer. He played for the Melbourne Storm, Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles, Sydney Roosters and the St. George Illawarra Dragons in the NRL. Early life Rose was born in Bathurst, New South Wales and was educated at Kelso High School. He was an exceptional student, and scored the top mark in a statewide mathematics competition. George played his junior rugby league for the Bathurst Penguins. Playing career An indigenous representative prop forward, he previously played for Sydney NRL clubs the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles (with whom he won the 2011 NRL Premiership) Melbourne Storm and Sydney Roosters. George Walter Rose (19 February 1920 – 5 May 1988) was an English actor and singer in theatre and film. He won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for roles in ''My Fair Lady'' and ''The Mystery of Edwin Drood''. Early life Born in Bicester, Oxfordshire, the son of a butcher, Rose studied at the Central School of Speech and Drama. After graduation, he was briefly a farmer and secretary. After wartime service and studies at Oxford, he made his Old Vic stage debut in 1946. Career Rose spent four years with the Old Vic company and made his Broadway debut in a 1946 production of ''Henry IV, Part I'' and continued to play in New York City and London's West End for the remainder of the decade. Sir George Rose (1782–1873) was an English barrister and law reporter, a master in chancery. Life Rose, eldest son of James Rose, barge-owner, of Tooley Street, Southwark, was born in London on 1 May 1782. He received a presentation to Westminster School, and became king's scholar in 1797. He was admitted to Trinity College, Cambridge, but did not take a degree. According to the '' DNB'', he was elected to Peterhouse, Cambridge in 1801, but poverty prevented him from completing his education there, and it was not until 1835 that he took his M.A. degree as a member of Trinity College, Oxford. On 5 May 1809 he was called to the bar at the Inner Temple, and commenced attendance in the common-law courts and on the northern circuit. George Rose (17 June 1744 – 13 January 1818) was a British politician. Life Born at Woodside near Brechin, Scotland, Rose was the second son of the Reverend David Rose of Lethnot, of an ancient family of Kilravock, in the County of Nairn, titled Baron of Kilravock by his second wife, Margaret, daughter of Donald Rose of Wester Clune (and a descendant of James Sharp, Archbishop of St Andrews from 1661 to 1679, through his daughter, Isabella). David Rose was said to be the illegitimate son of Hugh Hume-Campbell, 3rd Earl of Marchmont; no illegitimate son is mentioned by Thomas Finlayson Henderson in Marchmont's entry in the Dictionary of National Biography, and George Rose's own entry in that same edition states: 'Later gossip, which made him out a natural son of Lord Marchmont ee Hume, Hugh, third Earl of Marchmont an apothecary's apprentice, or a purser's clerk, may safely be disregarded'. Sir George Henry Rose GCH (1771 – 17 June 1855) was a British politician and diplomat. Life George Henry Rose was the eldest son of George Rose. He was educated at St John's College, Cambridge. He was Member of Parliament (MP) for Southampton from 1794 to 1813 and for Christchurch from 1818 to 1832 and 1837–44, Clerk of the Parliaments from 1818 to 1855 and sometime Envoy Extraordinary to Munich and Berlin, and to the United States in 1807–1808 in the wake of the Chesapeake-Leopard Affair. This last mission was an utter failure owing to the harsh and inflexible instructions he received from George Canning. Family In 1796 he married Frances Duncombe, daughter of Thomas Duncombe of Duncombe Park, Yorkshire. She was one of the wealthiest young women in the country.
