George Quarles
George Quarles (born March 24, 1967) is an American college football coach who is currently the tight ends coach at Austin Peay State Governors, Austin Peay. He was the head football coach at East Tennessee State University from 2022 to 2023. Prior to East Tennessee State, he was the associate head coach, offensive coordinator, and quarterbacks coach at Furman University, where he played college football. Before he joined the Furman coaching staff, Quarles was the head coach at Maryville High School (Tennessee), Maryville High School in Tennessee from 1999 to 2016, where he recorded a 250–16 record. Austin Peay State Governors Football
The Austin Peay Governors football program is the intercollegiate American football team for Austin Peay State University (Peay or APSU), located in the U.S. state of Tennessee. The team competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) and played the most recent 2021 season as members of the Ohio Valley Conference. The school's first football team was fielded in 1930. They were previously a member of the Pioneer Football League from 2001 through 2005. Peay plays its home games at the 10,000 seat Fortera Stadium, and moved to the ASUN Conference in July 2022, after being an OVC football member from 1963-1996 and again from 2007-2021. The Southern Conference (SoCon) is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I. Southern Conference football teams compete in the Football Championship Subdivision (formerly known as Division I-AA). Member institutions are located in the states of Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. The 2022 East Tennessee State Buccaneers football team represented East Tennessee State University as a member of the Southern Conference (SoCon) during the 2022 NCAA Division I FCS football season.
