George Howard Paul
George Howard Paul (March 14, 1826May 18, 1890) was an American newspaperman, businessman, and politician. He was a prominent member of the Democratic Party in Wisconsin, served two terms in the Wisconsin State Senate representing southern Milwaukee County, and was the 5th Mayor of Kenosha, Wisconsin. He also served in various other state and local offices, including several years as a member and president of the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents. Background Paul was born in Danville in Caledonia County, Vermont, on March 14, 1826; graduated from the University of Vermont, 1847; attended Harvard Law School (but did not graduate) and was subsequently admitted to the bar. He worked in newspaper journalism, and served as postmaster of Burlington, Vermont, in 1849. George St Paul
Sir George St Paul, 1st Baronet (1562 – 18 October 1613) was an English politician. He was born the son of Thomas St Paul (or Thomas St Poll) of Snarford, Lincolnshire and educated at Corpus Christi College, Oxford. He entered Lincoln's Inn in 1580. He married Frances, the daughter of Sir Christopher Wray, although they had no children. He was appointed High Sheriff of Lincolnshire in 1588 and elected as knight of the shire (MP) for Lincolnshire in 1589 and 1593. He was the Member of Parliament for Grimsby in 1604–1611. Sir George Onesiphorus Paul, 2nd Baronet (1746–1820) was an English prison reformer and philanthropist. Life Born at Woodchester, Gloucestershire, he was the son of Sir Onesiphorus Paul, textile manufacturer, by his first wife, Jane, daughter of Francis Blackburne of St. Nicholas, Yorkshire. He matriculated at St. John's College, Oxford, on 8 December 1763, graduating M.A. 12 December 1766. He took the additional Christian name of George in February 1780. He spent several years travelling on the continent of Europe, living in 1767–8 at the courts of Brunswick and Vienna, and then visiting Hungary, Poland, and Italy, and returning through France.
