George P. Anderson
George Power "Geordie" Anderson (3 June 1885 – 10 June 1958) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family He and his wife, Sarah Ann Anderson (1883–1950), née Carson had three sons and four daughters. He moved to Wagga Wagga from Melbourne in 1919. Football Anderson was originally from the Balldale Football Club. Anderson played on the half-back flank for most of his career at Collingwood. He was recruited from the Howlong Football Club in 1911; and, when he first came to Collingwood he was known as "Snowy Martin", due to his similarity to an Essendon player of the same name. He was unable to play in the first five matches of the 1911 season because his clearance from the New South Wales league was delayed. Balldale
Balldale is a village in the mid-southern part of the Riverina in New South Wales, Australia. It is about north-east of Corowa and about west of Brocklesby. Balldale was established when the large farm holding of the Quat Quatta Estate was sub-divided in the early 1900s, and named in honour of local politician Richard Ball (1857-1937). Balldale Post Office opened on 1 June 1905. The Balldale Hotel was built in 1905 by Albert Beard. Balldale Football Club Balldale FC commenced played in the following Australian Rules Football competitions in 1906, in the green and black colours initially, before the club eventually folded in 1977. Fitzroy Football Club
The Fitzroy Football Club is an Australian rules football club currently competing in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA). Formed in 1883 to represent the inner-Melbourne municipality of Fitzroy, the club was a member of the Victorian Football Association (VFA), before becoming a foundation member of the breakaway Victorian Football League (VFL/AFL) in 1897. Fitzroy won a total of eight VFL premierships, of which seven (1898, 1899, 1904, 1905, 1913, 1916 and 1922) were won whilst they were nicknamed the Maroons and one (1944) as the Gorillas. Mount Austin is an inner southern suburb of Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia. James Smith (4 January 1877 – 18 August 1948) was an Australian rules footballer who played with and coached St Kilda in the VFL during the early 1900s. Personal life The son of George Smith and Ellen Smith (1849–1896), née O'Neil, James Smith was born in Melbourne on 4 January 1877. He was the youngest of their three sons and was known by the name “Jimmy” or “Jim”.
