George Marsh (martyr)
George Marsh (1515-24 April 1555) was an English Protestant martyr who died in Boughton, Chester, on 24 April 1555 as a result of the Marian Persecutions carried out against Protestant Reformers and other dissenters during the reign of Mary I of England. His death is recorded in ''Foxe's Book of Martyrs''. Life George Marsh was born and lived most of his life in the parish of Deane, near Bolton, Lancashire. He was a farmer and married at the age of twenty-five. After his wife's death he left his children in the care of his parents and entered Cambridge University, where he associated with advocates of the reformed faith and in particular Lawrence Saunders. Marsh, from Catholic Lancashire, probably became a Protestant while at Cambridge. Sergeant George Marsh (died June 18, 1915) was an American soldier who fought in the American Civil War. Marsh received his country's highest award for bravery during combat, the Medal of Honor. Marsh's medal was won for capturing a stockade and saving a bridge over the Elk River in Tennessee on July 2, 1863. He was honored with the award on September 17, 1897. George Owen Marsh (born 5 November 1998) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for AEL Limassol. Early and personal life Marsh was born in Pembury, Kent, and raised in Hawkhurst, attending Robertsbridge Community College. Career Tottenham Hotspur Marsh joined the Tottenham Hotspur Academy in 2015. After making 6 appearances for the U21 team in the EFL Trophy in the 2017–18 and 2018–19 seasons, he made his senior debut on 4 January 2019 in the FA Cup against Tranmere Rovers. He extended his contract with Tottenham for two more years in June 2019. On 19 August 2019, Marsh went on loan to Leyton Orient until January 2020. Horace George Marsh (16 March 1921 – October 1998) was an English architect, best known for his work on the design of buildings including Centre Point in London and Alpha Tower in Birmingham, in his role as a partner in the architectural practice of R. Seifert and Partners. Early life Born in Birmingham, Marsh studied at the Birmingham School of Architecture while working as a pupil with a local architectural firm, before joining the leading Birmingham architectural practice of H. W. Weedon & Partners in 1941. Career in London In 1946, Marsh moved to London, working for a variety of architects until he joined the practice of Richard Seifert in 1957, becoming a founding partner in the newly formed R. Seifert & Partners a year later. Seifert's own early work is typified by Woolworth House of 1955 on London's Marylebone Road. George Perkins Marsh (March 15, 1801July 23, 1882), an American diplomat and philologist, is considered by some to be America's first environmentalist and by recognizing the irreversible impact of man's actions on the earth, a precursor to the sustainability concept, although "conservationist" would be more accurate. The Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park in Vermont takes its name, in part, from Marsh. His 1864 book ''Man and Nature'' had a great impact in many parts of the world.
