George MacCall
George Russell MacCall (May 7, 1918 – December 24, 2008) was an American Tennis Player, Tennis promoter and a former US Davis Cup captain. He is the founder of the MacCall Youth Tennis Foundation and a three-time Wimbledon finalist. Early life and education MacCall was born and raised in Kearny, New Jersey. He started playing tennis at the age of 10. In 1935, he attended Scarborough Prep School in New York. He transferred to Bucknell University in 1937, after graduating from the University of Virginia, in 1936. MacCall took additional courses at Upsala College, UCLA, and UNLV. Career George MacCall was the captain of the U.S. Davis Cup from 1965-67. Later, he promoted tennis by organizing celebrity tennis events featuring Bill Cosby and Charlton Heston and organized tennis matches between Pancho Gonzales and Rod Laver in New York and Los Angeles. Bucknell University is a private liberal arts college in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. World TeamTennis
World TeamTennis (WTT) is a mixed-gender professional tennis league played with a team format in the United States, which was founded in 1973. The league's season normally takes place in the summer months. Players from the ATP and WTA take a break from their tour schedules to partake in World TeamTennis. Richard Dennis Ralston (July 27, 1942 – December 6, 2020) was an American professional tennis player whose active career spanned the 1960s and 1970s. As a young player, he was coached by tennis pro Pancho Gonzales. He attended the University of Southern California (USC) and won NCAA championships under its coach George Toley. He and partner Bill Bond (tennis), Bill Bond captured the NCAA doubles title in 1964. Marty Riessen (born December 4, 1941) is an American former amateur and professional tennis player active from the 1960s to the 1980s. He was ranked as high as No. 11 in the world in singles on the ATP rankings in September 1974, though was ranked as high as world No. 8 by Lance Tingay of ''The Daily Telegraph'' in 1971 before the computer rankings. Renowned for his doubles play, Riessen was also a regular doubles partner of Australian tennis great Margaret Court, winning six of his seven major mixed titles and a career Grand Slam alongside her. Arthur Ashe
Arthur Robert Ashe Jr. (July 10, 1943 – February 6, 1993) was an American professional tennis player who won three Grand Slam singles titles. He started to play tennis at six years old. He was the first black player selected to the United States Davis Cup team, and the only black man ever to win the singles title at Wimbledon, the US Open, and the Australian Open. He retired in 1980. He was ranked world No. 1 by Rex Bellamy, Bud Collins, Judith Elian, Lance Tingay, ''World Tennis'' and ''Tennis Magazine'' (U.S.) in 1975. Lamar Hunt (August 2, 1932 – December 13, 2006) was an American businessman most notable for his promotion of American football, soccer, and tennis in the United States. He was the principal founder of the American Football League (AFL) and Major League Soccer (MLS), as well as MLS's predecessor, the North American Soccer League (NASL), and co-founder of World Championship Tennis.
