George Lambert, 1st Viscount Lambert, PC (25 June 1866 – 17 February 1958) was a long-serving British Member of Parliament (MP). Birth and education Lambert was born in South Tawton in Devon, on 25 June 1866, the son of George Lambert Gorwyn and his wife, Grace Howard. George Lambert Gorwyn (1818–1885), who is remembered today as a quarrelsome and much disliked man, had inherited farms in Spreyton and Drewsteignton. He dropped the surname Gorwyn in the 1870s, becoming known merely as George Lambert. His wife, Grace Howard, was the daughter of a farm labourer from South Tawton, who had been his housekeeper. They married in 1866. Lambert was educated at Spreyton School and North Tawton Grammar School. He left school after his father's death in 1885, and commenced farming. Political career Lambert served as a County Councillor for Devonshire, 1889–1912, and as a County Alderman, 1912–1952. He was first elected as Liberal MP for South Molton at a by-election in 1891. ...

George Lambert, 2nd Viscount Lambert, DL TD (27 November 1909 – 24 May 1989) was a British politician. Early life Lambert was the eldest son of long-serving Devon Member of Parliament, the Rt. Hon. George Lambert. He was educated at Harrow and New College, Oxford. During World War II, he was commissioned into the Royal Engineers, but transferred to the Royal Artillery in 1940. He became a lieutenant-colonel and a war Office liaison officer, visiting the Mediterranean, India and South-East Asia Commands. Political career In Parliament, Lambert spoke on agriculture matters. After almost fifty years in Parliament, George Lambert senior stepped down at the 1945 general election and was created Viscount Lambert. Lambert younger stood successfully as a National Liberal candidate in his father's seat, South Molton. George James Lambert (6 April 1879 – 30 June 1941) was an Australian politician who was a Labor Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1916 to 1930 and again from 1933 until his death. He worked as a metallurgist before entering politics. Early life Lambert was born in Malmsbury, Victoria, to Sarah Ann (née Smith) and William Richard Lambert. He trained in metallurgy at the school of mines in Kyneton, and in 1896 moved to Western Australia, where he set up as a metallurgical assayer in Boulder.George James Lambert

George Lambert (cricketer)
George Ernest Edward Lambert (11 May 1919 – 30 October 1991) played in 334 first-class cricket matches for Gloucestershire between 1938 and 1957. He later became cricket coach at Somerset and played three times for the first team in an injury crisis in 1960. He was born at Paddington, London and died in Bristol. Lambert was a right-handed lower-order batsman and a right-arm fast-medium bowler who was, in his prime, sometimes genuinely fast. Played by Gloucestershire primarily as the new-ball bowler in an attack dominated throughout his career by spin bowling, he often made useful runs and, in a side which frequently had a very long tail, often batted higher up the batting order than he might have done had he played for other teams. George Lambert (1700 – 30 November 1765) was an English landscape painting, landscape artist and theatre scene painter. With Richard Wilson (painter), Richard Wilson he is recognised as a pioneer of British landscape in art, for its own sake. Life and work Lambert was born in Kent and studied art under Warner Hassells and John Wootton, soon attracting attention by the quality of his landscape painting. He painted many large and fine landscapes in the style of Gaspar Poussin and Salvator Rosa. George Jackson Lambert
George Jackson Lambert (16 November 1794 – 24 January 1880) was an English organist and composer, for many years organist of Beverley Minster. Life Lambert was born in Beverley, son of George Lambert, organist of Beverley Minster. He had his first lessons from his father; afterwards he studied in London under Samuel T. Lyon and William Crotch. He played violin, viola and cello; in his early career he played at the Chapel Royal and at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, and was said to be a favourite of the Prince Regent. In 1818 he succeeded his father as organist at Beverley, and held the post until 1874, when ill health and deafness compelled him to retire. He died in Beverley on 24 January 1880, in the house in which he was born, and was interred in the private burial-ground in North-Bar Street Within. Admiral Sir George Robert Lambert (8 September 1795 – 5 June 1869) was a Royal Navy officer who went on to be Commander-in-Chief, The Nore. Naval career Lambert was the son of Captain Robert Alexander Lambert RN, himself the second son of Sir John Lambert, 2nd Baronet. His elder brother was General Sir John Lambert, and his younger brother was Captain Henry Lambert. Lambert joined the Royal Navy in 1809. Promoted to Captain in 1825, he commanded HMS ''Alligator'', HMS ''Endymion'', HMS ''Imaum'' and then HMS ''Fox''. In 1852, in HMS ''Fox'', he was dispatched to Burma to deal with some infringements of the Treaty of Yandabo. George Lambert Victoria Cross, VC (16 December 1819 – 10 February 1860), born in Markethill, County Armagh, was an Irish people, Irish recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to United Kingdom, British and Commonwealth of Nations, Commonwealth forces. He was 37 years old, and a Sergeant-Major in the 84th (York and Lancaster) Regiment of Foot, 84th Regiment of Foot (later the 2nd Battalion, York and Lancaster Regiment), British Army during the Indian Mutiny when the following deeds took place at Oonao, Onao, Bithoor and Lucknow for which he was awarded the VC: He later achieved the rank of lieutenant.
