George Jacobs (valet)
George Emmanuel Jacobs (April 19, 1927 – December 28, 2013) was an American memoirist and valet. Jacobs was the valet of the Hollywood agent Swifty Lazar in the 1950s, before being poached from Lazar by the singer and actor Frank Sinatra. Jacobs wrote a well received memoir, ''Mr. S: My Life with Frank Sinatra'' (coauthor William Stadiem; HarperEntertainment, 2003, ) that chronicled his time in Sinatra's employment, from 1953 to his dismissal by Sinatra in 1968. According to his obituary in ''The New York Times'', Jacobs was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, then moved to Los Angeles after serving in the U.S. Navy. He reportedly worked as a valet for Bill Cosby and Steve McQueen after Sinatra severed his longtime employment over a misunderstanding. Valet
A valet or varlet is a male servant who serves as personal attendant to his employer. In the Middle Ages and Ancien Régime, valet de chambre was a role for junior courtiers and specialists such as artists in a royal court, but the term "valet" by itself most often refers to a normal servant responsible for the clothes and personal belongings of an employer, and making minor arrangements. In the United States, the term most often refers to a parking valet, and the role is often confused with a butler. ''The Rat Pack'' is a 1998 American HBO television film, made-for-television drama (film and television), drama film about the Rat Pack. Tyrees Allen (born July 31, 1954) is an American actor on stage, television, and film. Early life Allen was born in Salina, Kansas. In 1972, he graduated from Salina Central High School. He later attended Marymount College in Salina, where he graduated with a degree in Theater Arts. Irving Paul "Swifty" Lazar (March 28, 1907 – December 30, 1993) was an American talent agent and dealmaker, representing both movie stars and authors. Early life and education Born Samuel Lazar to a Jewish family in Brooklyn, New York, he graduated from Fordham University and Brooklyn Law School in 1931. While practicing bankruptcy law during the early 1930s, he negotiated a business deal for a vaudeville performer Ted Lewis, and realized the income potential for acting as an agent. Career Lazar moved to Hollywood in 1936 but maintained a presence in New York until after World War II when he moved to Los Angeles permanently. After putting together three major deals for Humphrey Bogart in a single day, he was dubbed "Swifty" by Bogart.
