George Hayes (judge)
Sir George Hayes (19 June 1805 – 24 November 1869) was an English judge, a justice of the Queen's Bench. Biography Hayes, second son of Sheedy Hayes, a West Indian proprietor, by Catherine, daughter of John Westgate, was born in Judd Place, Somers Town, London, and educated at Highgate School and at St. Edmund's Roman Catholic college, near Ware. At an early age he renounced the Roman Catholic religion, and became a member of the Church of England. He was articled to William Francis Patterson, a solicitor at Leamington, and after completing his articles, in November 1824 entered the Middle Temple as a student, and in due course commenced practice as a special pleader. On 29 January 1830 he was called to the bar, joined the midland circuit, and regularly attended the Warwickshire sessions, soon rising into extensive practice as a junior both at sessions and on the circuit. George "Gabby" Hayes
George Francis "Gabby" Hayes (7 May 1885 – 9 February 1969) was an American actor. He began as something of a leading man and a character player, but he was best known for his numerous appearances in B-Western film series as the bewhiskered, cantankerous, but ever-loyal and brave comic sidekick of the cowboy stars Hopalong Cassidy and Roy Rogers. Early years Hayes was born the third of seven children in his father's hotel, the Hayes Hotel, in Stannards, New York, a hamlet just outside Wellsville, New York. (Hayes always gave Wellsville as his birthplace, but legally he was born in Stannards.) He was the son of Elizabeth Morrison and Clark Hayes. His father, in addition to operating the Hayes Hotel, was also involved in oil production. George Hayes (June 21, 1914 – November 19, 1987) was a Canadian linesman in the National Hockey League. Early life Hayes was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He began officiating minor league hockey games before moving to the Ontario Hockey Association and American Hockey League. Career Hayes started officiating in the NHL in 1946 and became the first official to work 1,000 games. He was also a part of a European tour with the New York Rangers and Boston Bruins in 1959. Hayes stopped officiating games in 1965 after refusing to take an eye exam mandated by then-NHL President Clarence Campbell. George Edward Chalmers Hayes (July 1, 1894 – December 20, 1968) was a Washington, D.C., lawyer who defended Annie Lee Moss on March 11, 1954. He was the lead attorney in ''Bolling v. Sharpe'' (1954). In 1955 he became the first African American to serve on the District of Columbia Public Utilities Commission. Biography He was born in Richmond, Virginia, and graduated from Brown University in 1915, and then earned a law degree from Howard University School of Law in 1918. He taught at Howard University School of Law starting in 1924 while he maintained a private practice in the District of Columbia. On March 11, 1954, he defended Annie Lee Moss. In 1954 with Spottswood William Robinson III, he was the lead counsel on ''Bolling v. Sharpe'', the companion case to ''Brown v. Board of Education''. George Hayes (footballer)
Thomas George Hayes (25 September 1908 – 16 May 1984) was a Welsh professional footballer who played as a centre forward or an inside forward. Born in Port Talbot, he played for the Wales Schoolboys team as a youngster and had spells with Port Talbot Athletic and Bridgend Town. In the summer of 1927, Hayes moved to England to join Barnsley, but he never made a senior appearance for the club. He transferred to Third Division North side Nelson in March 1928, one of several new signings by the club as they strove to avoid finishing bottom of the league. Hayes made his Nelson debut on 17 March 1928 in the 5–4 victory away at Hartlepools United.
