Sir George Frederick Harvey (1 February 1806 – 22 January 1876), Scottish painter. Early life He was the son of George Harvey, a watchmaker, and Elizabeth (née Jeffrey) Harvey, and was born at 59 Main Street, St Ninians, a small village near Stirling. His brother was Bailie Harvey was long active in Glasgow municipal affairs. Soon after his birth his parents removed to Stirling, where George was apprenticed to Mr McLaren, a bookseller on Bow Street. His love for art having, however, become very decided, in his eighteenth year he entered the Trustees' Academy on Picardy Place in Edinburgh. Here he so distinguished himself that in 1826 he was invited by the Scottish artists, who had resolved to found a Scottish Academy, to join it as an associate (see Royal Scottish Academy). George Harvey (British Politician)
Sir George Harvey (20 November 1868 – 27 March 1939) was a British Conservative Party politician who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Kennington division of Lambeth from 1924 to 1929, and from 1931 until his death. Harvey was born in Throxenby, Scarborough, the son of John Harvey, a Staff Sergeant in the Yorkshire Militia from Armagh, Ireland, and Fanny Humphrey Harvey. George came to London as a young boy to seek his fortune, spending his first night in Kennington. Harvey won the Kennington seat at the 1924 general election, defeating the sitting Labour MP T. S. B. Williams. He was unseated at the 1929 general election by the Labour candidate Leonard Matters, an Australian journalist, but ousted Matters in 1931 with a majority of 28.6% of the votes. He was re-elected in 1935, and held the seat until 1939, when he died suddenly in West Kingston, near Angmering-on-Sea, aged 70. It is the story of a teenage girl who, after being raped and murdered, watches from her personal Heaven as her family and friends struggle to move on with their lives while she comes to terms with her own death. George Brinton McClellan Harvey (February 16, 1864 - August 20, 1928) was an American diplomat, journalist, author, street railway magnate, and editor of several magazines. He used his great wealth in politics. He was an early promoter of Woodrow Wilson, but they became bitter enemies. Harvey was a conservative who wanted Washington to protect big business and harass labor unions. He repudiated Wilson when he saw Wilson oppose political machines and threaten big business in the style of progressive era reformers. George Harvey Collegiate Institute (George Harvey CI, GHCI also known simply as Harvey) was a high school in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was formerly known as George Harvey Vocational School and George Harvey Secondary School. It was located in the former suburb of York and was part of the Toronto District School Board. Before 1998, it was part of the Board of Education for the City of York. The school opened in 1952 as the first vocational school in the former City of York for students who want to pursue skilled trades. George Harvey, Esq., (died 29 October 1834) was an English mathematician, known for his scientific and engineering writings, on meteorology, ship building, and colour blindness. Life Harvey was based in Plymouth, where he trained as a physician before specialising in mathematics. He tutored William Yolland in mathematics. Later he became a lecturer in mathematics at the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich. Around 1826 his name was mentioned in correspondence about a professorial post at the University of Virginia, between Francis Walker Gilmer and Peter Barlow (mathematician), Peter Barlow.
