George H. Reed was an American actor working in the Hollywood film industry in both the silent and sound eras. His first major film was the 1920 ''Huckleberry Finn'' where he played Jim. Orrall Humphrey
Thomas Orral Humphrey (April 3, 1880 - August 12, 1929) was an American silent film actor and director. Humphrey was born in Louisville, Kentucky. He starred in 46 films between 1914 and 1929 and is credited for directing four films. His younger sister Ola Humphrey was an actress. Humphrey's first film was one of the most popular of 1915, ''The Diamond from the Sky'' in which he starred alongside Lottie Pickford, Charlotte Burton, Jack Hoxie, and other popular actors. He died in 1929 aged 49 in Los Angeles, California. ''Montana Moon'' is a 1930 Pre-Code Western musical film which introduced the concept of the singing cowboy to the screen. Starring Joan Crawford, Johnny Mack Brown, Dorothy Sebastian, and Ricardo Cortez, the film focuses on the budding relationship between a city girl and a rural cowboy. Plot Joan Prescott (Joan Crawford) is a vacuous and flirtatious daughter of the wealthy Montana rancher, John Prescott (Lloyd Ingraham). The Big City (1928 Film)
''The Big City'' is a 1928 American silent crime film directed by Tod Browning and starring Lon Chaney. Waldemar Young wrote the screenplay, based on a story by Tod Browning. The film is now lost. The last known print of the film had been sent to Australia in the late 1950s. The film was returned to MGM and placed in their vaults where it was destroyed in the same vault fire that also claimed '' London After Midnight'' and ''The Tower of Lies'' in 1965. A short trailer for the film survives at Cinémathèque française in France, but it does not include any actual footage from the film itself. Stills exist showing Chaney in the Chuck Collins role. This was Betty Compson's only film at MGM. The sets were designed by Cedric Gibbons. The set for Chuck Collins' nightclub was also used for the nightclub scenes in ''While the City Sleeps''. ''The Johnstown Flood'' is a 1926 American silent epic drama film directed by Irving Cummings, that addresses the Great Flood of 1889 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. The film stars George O'Brien, Florence Gilbert, and Janet Gaynor. Plot Tom O'Day becomes engaged to Gloria Hamilton even though Anna has love for Tom, unbeknownst to him. Gloria's father, John Hamilton, owns a lumber camp outside of Johnstown, Pennsylvania and has control of the dam upriver. To satisfy obligatory contracts he has to make sure he clears as much trees as possible. To do this, John has made sure the water level behind the dam is at maximum capacity but Tom knows there is a fault in the dam.
