George Fowler (politician)
George Swan Fowler (9 March 1839 – 1 October 1896) was a South Australian politician and a Treasurer of South Australia. Fowler was born in Kilrenny, Fife, Scotland, son of James Fowler (ca.1794 – 9 December 1872), who kept a general store in Anstruther, and here George learned the fundamentals of business. His older brothers James and David emigrated to South Australia (in 1853 and 1854 respectively) and had founded the highly successful grocery business of D. & J. Fowler in Rundle Street, Adelaide when in 1859 James died. George emigrated shortly after, arriving in Adelaide in July 1860 and was accepted as partner in the firm, which retained the name of D. & J. Fowler. By 1865 business had grown to such an extent that they decided to confine themselves to the wholesale trade and opened a branch office in London and a head office in King William Street, Adelaide, of which George had control. George Fowler (magistrate)
Sir George Jefford Fowler (14 August 1858 – 19 October 1937) was an English solicitor who served as Chief Magistrate for Kingston upon Thames for thirty years. Fowler was born in Exeter and admitted a solicitor (like his father) in 1879. He was knighted in the 1920 New Year Honours for his services as a magistrate and retired as senior partner of Fowler, Legg & Co, Bedford Row, London, in 1931. George William Fowler
George William Fowler (February 24, 1859 – September 2, 1924) was a lawyer and political figure in New Brunswick, Canada. He represented King's County in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1895 to 1899 and King's then King's and Albert in the House of Commons of Canada from 1900 to 1908 and 1911 to 1917 as a Conservative member. Fowler went on to represent Kings and Albert division in the Senate of Canada from 1917 to 1924. He was born in Hammond Vale, New Brunswick and was educated in Saint John, at Dalhousie University and at Boston University. Fowler was admitted to the New Brunswick bar in 1884. He served on the council for King's County from 1886 to 1890 and served as warden in 1889. Fowler was Grand Master for the Orange Lodge in New Brunswick from 1890 to 1893. George Herbert Fowler
George Herbert Fowler (4 September 1861, Lincoln – 15 August 1940, Aspley Guise) was an English zoologist, historian and archivist. Fowler was educated at Marlborough College, Eton College and Keble College, Oxford. From 1887 to 1889 he was assistant to E. Ray Lankester at University College, London. In 1890 he was interim director of the recently founded Plymouth laboratory of the Marine Biological Association. In 1891 he returned to teaching zoology at UCL. Fowler and R. Norris Wolfenden founded the Challenger Society for Marine Science in 1903. Fowler retired from UCL in 1909. In retirement Fowler lived at Aspley Guise, Bedfordshire, and his interests turned to local history. He established the Bedfordshire Historical Record Society in 1912 and the Bedfordshire Record Office in 1913, continuing to serve as chairman of the county records committee until 1940. George Ryan Fowler (born 20 December 1997) is an English professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for National League club Maidstone United. Club career Born in Chelmsford, Fowler attended Debenham High School in Suffolk. He captained the school team, playing as a central midfielder in the same side as his twin brother. Fowler first joined Ipswich Town during the 2011–12 campaign as a schoolboy and signed his first scholarship in July 2014. He played for the under-18 team while he was still an under-15, and earned a one-year professional contract in the summer of 2016. The following year, his contract was extended by a further 12 months. He went on to make his full senior debut in a 2–1 defeat against Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup second round on 22 August 2017. George Fowler (26 October 1860 – 14 May 1934) was a New Zealand cricketer who played first-class cricket for Nelson from 1879 to 1887. His brothers Samuel and Louis also played for Nelson. Cricket career George Fowler achieved some remarkable bowling figures, especially in Nelson. Against Wellington at the Botanical Gardens ground in 1883-84 he bowled unchanged through both innings and took 5 for 10 and 5 for 13 (match figures of 28.4–16–23–10; five-ball overs) in a match in which 40 wickets fell for just 183 runs. Nine of his victims were bowled. Nelson won by 39 runs.
