George Edgar
Christopher George Edgar (born 21 April 1960) is a retired British and European diplomat who served as the British High Commissioner to the Republic of Fiji. Early life and education Edgar is the son of Dr William Macreadie Edgar and Dr Freda Elizabeth Edgar. He studied Philosophy at Trinity College, Cambridge and then completed a MA in Environment, Policy and Society at the Open University. Career Edgar joined the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 1981 and was posted to the British Embassy in Moscow. He has served as British Ambassador to Cambodia, Ambassador to Macedonia, Consul General in St Petersburg; and interim Ambassador to the Holy See. He played a key role in Protocol Directorate in the FCO in relation to arrangements for the 2012 London Olympics. Edgar was appointed as the British Ambassador to Uzbekistan in August 2012. Excellency
Excellency is an honorific style given to certain high-level officers of a sovereign state, officials of an international organization, or members of an aristocracy. Once entitled to the title "Excellency", the holder usually retains the right to that courtesy throughout their lifetime, although in some cases the title is attached to a particular office, and is held only for the duration of that office. Generally people addressed as ''Excellency'' are heads of state, heads of government, governors, ambassadors, Roman Catholic bishops and high-ranking ecclesiastics and others holding equivalent rank (e.g., heads of international organizations).
