George E. Stone
George E. Stone (born Gerschon Lichtenstein; May 18, 1903 – May 26, 1967) was a Polish-born American character actor in films, radio, and television. Life and career Stone was born Gerschon Lichtenstein in Łódź, Congress Poland, into a Jewish family. He sailed from the Port of Hamburg, Germany, as a steerage passenger on board the S/S ''President Grant'', which arrived at the Port of New York on May 29, 1913; at Ellis Island, he passed federal immigrant inspection with his two sisters and a brother. As an actor, Stone first attracted attention (as "Georgie Stone") in the 1927 silent film '' 7th Heaven'', where he played the local street thug The Sewer Rat; audiences remembered his slight build and very expressive face. ''Boston Blackie's Chinese Venture'' is a 1949 mystery film directed by Seymour Friedman, starring Chester Morris. This was the last of Columbia's 14 ''Boston Blackie'' pictures (1941–49). Charles Wagenheim
Charles Wagenheim (February 21, 1896 – March 6, 1979) was an American actor who appeared in over 250 films. On television, Wagenheim appeared in an episode of ''Barnaby Jones'' titled "The Murdering Class", portraying a cemetery groundskeeper (named Charles Waggenheim). Wagenheim died on March 6, 1979, from blunt force trauma caused by his caregiver, Stephanie Boone. Wagenheim had thought that Miss Boone had been stealing from him and forging checks. When he confronted her in his apartment over this, an argument ensued and she struck him on the head, causing his death. An autopsy found that Wagenheim had died by way of blunt force trauma. Boone was charged with the murder of Wagenheim and pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter. She was sentenced to serve eight years for his death. ''Meet Boston Blackie'' is a 1941 crime film starring Chester Morris as Boston Blackie, a notorious, but honorable jewel thief. Although the character had been the hero of a number of silent films, this was the first talking picture. It proved popular enough for Columbia Pictures to produce a total of 14 B movies, all starring Morris. The Runt was played by Charles Wagenheim; in the subsequent 13 films, George E. Boston Blackie is a fictional character created by author Jack Boyle (1881–1928). Blackie, a jewel thief and safecracker in Boyle's stories, became a detective in adaptations for films, radio and television—an "enemy to those who make him an enemy, friend to those who have no friend." Actor Chester Morris played the character in 14 Columbia Pictures films (1941–1949) and in a 1944 NBC radio series. Literature Writer Jack Boyle grew up in Chicago, Illinois. When the board of directors of Hell want Adolf Hitler to take charge, the Devil tries to save his job by making the German dictator perform a good deed.
