George Creed
George Albert Creed (9 February 1940 - 29 November 2010) was an Australian politician, best known for his work in local government in Queensland. He is notable for serving as the final mayor of Calliope Shire Council and as the first mayor of Gladstone Regional Council. Early life Creed was born in Rockhampton. He completed his primary education through correspondence while growing up on "Cecilwood", near Raglan before attending Rockhampton Grammar School. He married Leonie Dunning on 5 September 1964 after which they moved into their home at "The Old Station", a cattle property where Creed bred Brahman cattle. George and Leonie Creed had three children. To make ends meet during the 1970's beef slump, Creed commenced employment at Queensland Alumina in Gladstone while Leonie worked as a teacher aide at Mount Larcom State School. Medal Bar
A medal bar or medal clasp is a thin metal bar attached to the ribbon of a military decoration, civil decoration, or other medal. It most commonly indicates the campaign or operation the recipient received the award for, and multiple bars on the same medal are used to indicate that the recipient has met the criteria for receiving the medal in multiple theatres. When used in conjunction with decorations for exceptional service, such as gallantry medals, the term "and bar" means that the award has been bestowed multiple times. National Medal (Australia)
The National Medal is an Australian award given for long service by operational members of specified eligible organisations. It was introduced in 1975, as an original component of the new Australian honours system, and replaced a range of medals available to military and civilian uniformed services for long service and good conduct. Langmorn Homestead
Langmorn Homestead is a heritage-listed homestead at Langmorn Road, Raglan, Gladstone Region, Queensland, Australia. It was built from 1873 to 1926. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992. History Langmorn Homestead is the residence and associated outbuildings of a pastoral property located in the Port Curtis Hinterland and was established in 1869 by Thomas Creed and his family. The region in which Langmorn is located was first explored by Charles and William Archer in 1853. Two years later, William Landsborough also explored the region, taking up the run of Raglan in the same year. It was managed by Landsborough’s sons, James and John, with James occupying the property with his family. Kenneth Desmond O'Dowd (born 30 June 1950) is a former Australian politician. He was a member of the House of Representatives from 2010 to 2022, representing the Division of Flynn for the National Party. Background O'Dowd was born in Gladstone, Queensland.
