George Collin
George Collin (13 September 1905 – 1 February 1989) was an English Association football, footballer who played at Defender (association football), left-back. He played for Arsenal F.C., Arsenal, A.F.C. Bournemouth, Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic, Sunderland A.F.C., Sunderland, Port Vale F.C., Port Vale, and Burton Town F.C., Burton Town, but is most notable for his nine years with Derby County F.C., Derby County from 1927 to 1936. He helped the "Rams" to finish second in the Football League First Division, First Division in 1929–30 and 1935–36. Career Collin played for Sunderland based junior club West Stanley, before moving to London in 1924 for a trial with West Ham United F.C., West Ham United. He instead signed a Association football contracts, contract with Arsenal F.C., Arsenal, before moving on to A.F.C. Bournemouth, Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic. Oxhill, County Durham
Oxhill is a small village in County Durham, in England. It is located to the west of Stanley, on the bottom of the hill which leads up to New Kyo and Annfield Plain to it's east. Down the hill to the north are the C2C cycle path, East Kyo and Harperley. Oxhill contains very little: a few households, a pub called The Ox (frequented by locals and occasional cyclists from the neaby C2C cycle path taking lunch - the pub used to be known for weekend live music as well as food) and the main nursery school for the Stanley area. Opposite the ''Ox Inn'' to the south west is the former ''Oxhill Chapel''. This has now been converted to a private house. Oxhill used to be the site of a major level crossing, allowing access from the former nearby Stanhope and Tyne Railway line (this is now the basis of the eastern section of the ''C2C'' cycle path) to a shunting yard adjacent to nearby South Moor, where coal was loaded for transport to the River Tyne for export. George Jobey
George Jobey (July 1885 – 9 May 1962) was an English football player and manager. He won the league championship as a player with his hometown club Newcastle United. Career Jobey was born in 1885 in Heddon, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and played football for local boys' clubs in Morpeth before joining Newcastle United in 1906. He made his senior debut on 20 April 1907 in a 4–2 loss at Bolton Wanderers. He spent seven seasons with the ''Magpies'' but only played 53 matches, mostly playing at centre or right half; however, he played enough times to win a First Division winner's medal in 1908–09 and also picked up a runners-up medal in the 1911 FA Cup Final; Newcastle lost 1–0 in a replay to Bradford City after a goalless first match. Jobey was transferred to Woolwich Arsenal in May 1913, and made an immediate impact. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football. First played during the 1871–72 season, it is the oldest national football competition in the world. It is organised by and named after The Football Association (The FA). The English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888 as the Football League, the league is the oldest such competition in the world.
