George Cheverko
George Francis Cheverko (July 29, 1920 – November 14, 1977) was an American football running back in the National Football League for the New York Giants and the Washington Redskins. He played college football at Fordham University and was drafted in the seventh round of the 1944 NFL draft The 1944 National Football League Draft was held on April 19, 1944, at the Warwick Hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The National Football League Draft, also called the NFL Draft or (officially) the Player Selection Meeting, is an annual event which serves as the league's most common source of player recruitment. Each team is given a position in the drafting order in reverse order relative to its record in the previous year, which means that the last place team is positioned first and the Super Bowl champion is last. From this position, the team can either select a player or trade its position to another team for other draft positions, a player or players, or any combination thereof.
