George Cash
Samuel Ernest "George" Cash (born 12 September 1946 in Subiaco, Western Australia) is a former Australian politician. A member of the Liberal Party, he represented Mount Lawley in the Western Australian Legislative Assembly, and later was a member of the Western Australian Legislative Council, representing the North Metropolitan Region. Biography Cash was awarded a Bachelor of Laws and then a Master of Laws at the University of Western Australia, later completing a Bachelor of Business. He worked as a business proprietor and a company director before entering parliament. In 1984, he was elected to the Western Australian Legislative Assembly as the member for Mount Lawley at a by-election resulting from the resignation from parliament of then premier Ray O'Connor. Western Australian Legislative Council
The Western Australian Legislative Council is the upper house of the Parliament of Western Australia, a state of Australia. It is regarded as a house of review for legislation passed by the Legislative Assembly, the lower house. The two Houses of Parliament sit in Parliament House in the state capital, Perth. Effective on 20 May 2005, for the election of members of the Legislative Council, the State was divided into 6 electoral regions by community of interest —3 metropolitan and 3 rural—each electing 6 members to the Legislative Council.. The 2005 changes continued to maintain the previous malapportionment in favour of rural regions. Legislation was passed in 2021 to abolish these regions and increase the size of the council to 37 seats, all of which will be elected by the state-at-large. Peter Collier (politician)
Peter Charles Collier (born 25 February 1959) is an Australian politician who has been a Liberal Party member of the Legislative Council of Western Australia since 2005, representing North Metropolitan Region. He served as a minister in the government of Colin Barnett from 2008 until its defeat at the 2017 election. Early life Collier was born in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, to Beryl Lillian (née Davies) and Les Collier. He attended Eastern Goldfields Senior High School before going on to the University of Western Australia, where he studied teaching. After graduating, Collier taught at various high schools in the Perth metropolitan area, both public and private. Michaelia Clare Cash (born 19 July 1970) is an Australian politician who served as the 38th Attorney-General of Australia from 2021 to 2022 in the Morrison Government. Subiaco (known colloquially as Subi) is an inner-Western suburbs (Perth), western suburb of Perth, the capital of Western Australia. John Cowdell
John Alexander Cowdell (born 24 May 1953) is a former Australian politician. Born in Perth, Cowdell holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Diploma of Education. He worked as a public servant and adviser to Kim Beazley before being appointed Assistant Secretary of the Western Australian Labor Party; he was also Dean of Kingswood College at the University of Western Australia. In 1993 he was elected to the Western Australian Legislative Council for South West. From 1997 to 2001 he was Shadow Minister for Parliamentary and Electoral Affairs as well as Deputy President of the Council; in 2001 he became President. Cowdell retired from politics in 2005. Clive Edward Griffiths (20 November 1928 – 8 November 2020) was an Australian politician. Career He was born in South Perth to mechanical fitter Thomas Edward Griffiths and Dorothy Margaret Beattie. In 1943 he was apprenticed to an electrical fitter at Kalgoorlie, and in 1947 worked for plant engineers at the Public Works Department. He developed his own business from 1953, and although he was a member of the Amalgamated Engineering Union, he joined the Liberal Party in 1956. He served on South Perth City Council from 1962 to 1966, and in 1965 was elected to the Western Australian Legislative Council representing South-East Metropolitan Province. He was elected President of the Council in 1977 and served for twenty years, the longest term of any parliamentary presiding officer in Western Australia. Richard Fairfax Court (born 27 September 1947) is a former Australian politician and diplomat. He served as Premier of Western Australia from 1993 to 2001 and as Australian Ambassador to Japan from 2017 to 2020. A member of the Liberal Party, he represented the Perth-area electorate of Nedlands in the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 1982 to 2001. Raymond James O'Connor (6 March 1926 – 25 February 2013) was an Australian politician who served as the premier of Western Australia from 25 January 1982 to 25 February 1983. He was a member of parliament from 1959 to 1984, and a minister in the governments of David Brand and Charles Court. A controversial figure, he served six months jail in 1994 for stealing a $25,000 cheque from the Bond Corporation.
