George C. Ludlow
George Craig Ludlow (April 6, 1830 – December 18, 1900) was an American Democratic Party politician, who served as the 25th governor of New Jersey from 1881 to 1884. Early life George Craig Ludlow was born in Milford, New Jersey, on April 6, 1830. His father Cornelius Ludlow and grandfather Benjamin Ludlow were both active in Democratic Party politics. In 1835, the Ludlow family moved to New Brunswick, New Jersey, where George would remain for the rest of his life. Ludlow graduated from Rutgers College in 1850 and opened a law practice in 1853. He was private counsel for the Pennsylvania Railroad. Early political career In 1876, he was elected to represent Middlesex County in the New Jersey Senate. North Brunswick is a township in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. It is centrally located in the Raritan Valley region within the New York Metropolitan area. At the 2020 United States census, the population was 43,905, reflecting an increase of (+7.5%) from the 40,742 counted in the 2010 Census, which had in turn increased by 3,455 (+12.3%) from the 36,287 counted in the 2000 Census. Located south of the city of New Brunswick, North Brunswick was named for its earlier-established neighbor, South Brunswick, New Jersey. William Joyce Sewell
William Joyce Sewell (December 6, 1835 – December 27, 1901) was an Irish-American Republican Party politician, merchant, and military officer who served as a U.S. Senator from New Jersey for two non-consecutive terms from 1881 to 1887 and 1895 until his death in 1901. Sewell was born in Castlebar, County Mayo, Ireland. He immigrated to the United States in 1851 where he worked in the merchant industry in Chicago, Illinois before moving to Camden, New Jersey in 1860. He served as an officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War, receiving the Medal of Honor for his actions at the Battle of Chancellorsville.
