George Bucci
George P. Bucci Jr. (born July 9, 1953) is an American former basketball player. He played collegiately for the Manhattan College. He was selected by the Buffalo Braves in the third round (52nd pick overall) of the 1975 NBA draft and by the New York Nets in the 1975 ABA Draft. He played for the New York Nets in the American Basketball Association (ABA) during the 1975–76 season and won an ABA championship with them. He was not used much as their 5th guard, and during the season the team permitted him to start an oil distribution company. The Net's cut Bucci before the 1976-77 season. Cornwall is a town in Orange County, New York, United States, approximately north of New York City on the western shore of the Hudson River. As of the 2020 census, the population was at 12,884. Cornwall has become a bedroom community for area towns and cities including New York City. 1975–76 ABA Season
The 1975–76 ABA season was the ninth and final season of the American Basketball Association. The shot clock was changed from 30 to 24 seconds to match the NBA. Dave DeBusschere was the league's new commissioner, its seventh and last. This was also the only season that did not use the East-West division setup. The NBA would adopt the ABA's three-point shot for the 1979–80 season. Prior to the start of the season, the Memphis Sounds relocated to Baltimore, Maryland, and briefly became the Baltimore Hustlers, then the Baltimore Claws. The Claws folded during the preseason in October after playing three exhibition games. The San Diego Conquistadors were replaced for the 1975–76 season by the San Diego Sails, but folded in November, followed by the Utah Stars in early December. The Virginia Squires folded in May following the end of the season, unable to make a $75,000 league assessment. Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference
The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC, ) is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with NCAA Division I. Of its current 11 full members, 10 are located in three states of the northeastern United States: Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York. The other member is in Maryland.
