George Bryant (archer)
George Phillip Bryant (February 22, 1878 – April 18, 1938) was an American archer who competed in the 1904 Summer Olympics. He later became President of the Organising Committee for the Olympic Games for the 1932 Summer Olympics. He won two gold medals in Archery at the 1904 Summer Olympics in the double York and American rounds. In the team competition he won the bronze medal as part of the Boston Archery Club team. Bryant had not won any major titles before the Olympics, but later won national championships in 1905, 1909, 1911, and 1912. Bryant was born in Melrose, Massachusetts. He graduated from Harvard University and Harvard Law School. He practiced law, was an executive with the Brant Rock Water Company, and served on the board of selectmen for Marshfield, Massachusetts. Wallace Bryant (archer)
Wallace Bryant (December 19, 1863 – May 2, 1953) was an American archer who competed in the 1904 Summer Olympics. He won the bronze medal in the team competition. In the Double York round he finished fourth and in the Double American round he finished eighth. Bryant was also a famous portrait artist. Biography Bryan was born in Melrose, Massachusetts to Dexter and Dorcas (Hancock) Bryant. He was the second of seven children. He attended the Massachusetts College of Art and Design (then known as the Massachusetts Normal Art School), graduating in 1884. He also studied at the Académie Julian under Jean-Joseph Benjamin-Constant, Paul Albert Laurens, Albert Francois Fleury, and William-Adolphe Bouguereau. He married Nanna Matthews Bryant (née Nanna Bolton Matthews, a fellow artist whom he likely met at the Académie Julian, in 1898. Solko Johannes van den Bergh (4 June 1854 in The Hague – 25 December 1916 in The Hague) was a Dutch sport shooter. Van den Bergh was a notary by profession who on 6 June 1880 married the noble Sophia Emma Nicoletta van Limburg Brouwer in Zeist. Together with his friend Henrik Sillem and the Frenchman François Monod he initiated the first "international shooting matches" (world championships in shooting) in 1897 in Lyon.
