George Loring Brown
George Loring Brown (February 2, 1814 – June 25, 1889) was an American landscape painter. He was born in Boston and first studied wood engraving under Alonzo Hartwell and worked as an illustrator. He studied painting with Washington Allston, but soon went to Europe, residing principally in Italy for years. Brown spent much of his life abroad, and the motives of his pictures are usually Italian, and there is nothing specifically American about them either in treatment or sentiment. Among the best are ''Sunset in Genoa'' (1875), ''Doges' Palace and Grand Canal'', ''Bay of Naples,'' ''Niagara Falls in Moonlight''. George Brown (Belizean Judge)
Sir George Noel Brown (13 June 1942 – 26 July 2007) was the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Belize from 1991 to 1998, the second native-born Belizean to sit in that position. Career Brown served the judiciary for more than four decades, rising up through the ranks. He began as a lay magistrate, and after qualifying as a crown counsel joined the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. He later became the Solicitor General of Belize. He served as acting Chief Justice in 1985–1986, and was named Chief Justice in 1991. His tenure was marked by conflict with the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council over the issue of capital punishment; of the twenty death sentences he handed down in his latter years, the Privy Council granted a stay of execution in all cases which were appealed. George William Brown (October 13, 1812 – September 8, 1890) was an American politician, judge and academic. He was mayor of Baltimore from 1860 to 1861, professor in University of Maryland School of Law, and 2nd Chief Judge and Supreme Bench of Baltimore City. He was founder and president of the Bar Association of Baltimore City and the Library Company of the Baltimore Bar. Career Brown was admitted to the bar in 1834. Brown was a founder of the Library Company of the Baltimore Bar (1840) and from 1861 to 1874, he was its president. He was a founder of the Maryland Historical Society in 1844. The first digest of Maryland Court of Appeals decisions was compiled with his assistance and published in 1849. George Houston Brown
George Houston Brown (February 12, 1810 – August 1, 1865) was an American Whig Party politician, who represented in the United States House of Representatives from 1851 to 1853. Biography Brown was born in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, on February 12, 1810. He attended the common schools and Lawrenceville Academy and graduated from Princeton College in 1828. He was a teacher in Lawrenceville Academy from 1828 to 1830. He studied law at Yale College for one year and also in a law office in Somerville, New Jersey, was admitted to the bar in 1835 and commenced practice in Somerville. He was a member of the New Jersey Legislative Council from 1842 to 1845, and was a delegate to the New Jersey constitutional convention in 1844. Brown was elected as a Whig to the Thirty-second Congress, serving in office from March 4, 1851, to March 3, 1853, but was not a candidate for renomination in 1852. George Brown (January 10, 1746 – June 19, 1836) was a Rhode Island politician and judge who served as a justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court from May 1796 to June 1799, and as the first Lieutenant governor of Rhode Island from 1799 to 1800. George Alfred George-Brown, Baron George-Brown, (2 September 1914 – 2 June 1985) was a British Labour Party politician who served as Deputy Leader of the Labour Party from 1960 to 1970 and held several Cabinet roles under Prime Minister Harold Wilson, including Foreign Secretary and First Secretary of State. After leaving school at the age of 15, Brown began work as a clerk, before joining the Transport and General Workers' Union. He rose quickly through the union ranks as an organiser, and shortly before the 1945 election he was chosen as the Labour Party candidate for the seat of Belper. George Mackenzie Brown (1869 – 14 July 1946) was a Canadian-born Scottish publisher who also followed a political career. As a publisher, he produced Arthur Conan Doyle's books; as a politician, he beat him to win election to the House of Commons. George Francis Brown (1802–1871) was a British civil servant of the East India Company, and Commissioner of Bhagalpur, Bihar at the time of the Santhal rebellion. Early life He was the son of David Brown, and younger brother of Charles Philip Brown. His father, a chaplain in Bengal, died in 1812, and his mother Frances (née Cowley) then brought her family of eight children to London. In 1819 he was nominated for the East India College.
