Georg Hagerup-Larssen
Georg Hagerup-Larssen (16 January 1903 – 21 September 1982) was a Norwegian engineer and businessperson. He was born in Ankenes. He graduated as an electrical engineer from the Norwegian Institute of Technology in 1928, and after some months in Siemens-Schuckert in Germany he was hired as engineer at Haugvik Smelteverk. In 1936 he was hired in Elektrokemisk (later Elkem). From June 1940, during the Second World War, he was the company's representative in the United States and Canada, fleeing occupied Norway via the Soviet Union and Japan. His main task was to spread the Søderberg electrode technology. He returned to Norway in 1946. In 1951 he became assisting chief executive, and from 1959 to 1971 he served as the chief executive of Elkem. He succeeded Alf Monrad-Aas. Ankenes
Ankenes is a former municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1884 until 1974. It encompassed most of the present-day Narvik Municipality, surrounding of the town of Narvik which was once its own municipality. The administrative centre of Ankenes was the village of Ankenesstrand, situated along the west side of the Beisfjorden, where the Ankenes Church is located. Today, the name Ankenes is often used to refer to the suburban Ankenesstrand area, just outside the town of Narvik. The European route E6 highway is the main thoroughfare through Ankenes and it follows the shoreline of the Ofotfjorden and Beisfjorden and it then crosses the fjord over the long Beisfjord Bridge where it then reaches the town of Narvik. Elkem was founded in 1904, has more than 7,000 employees and fields 30 production sites worldwide. Elkem has an operating income of NOK 33.7 billion. Ullern is a borough of the city of Oslo, Norway. History The borough has its name from an old farm, Norse ''Ullarin''. The first element is the genitive case of the name of the Norse god Ullr. The last element is ''vin'', meaning pasture or meadow. In Medieval times, the farm belonged to the monastery at Hovedøya. Following the Reformation in 1536, the farmland was separated between the crown and the local canon. Formally divided into lower and upper Ullern in 1740, both farms were bought by Herman Severin Løvenskiold, in 1878 and 1866 respectively. At the time, Ullern was a part of the rural municipality Aker. Signs of urbanization began in the 1800s, when Skøyen and areas along the Lysaker River, which divides Ullern from Bærum, began developing into industrial sites.
