Kannelmäki
Kannelmäki ( sv, Gamlas, Helsinki slang: ''Kantsu'') is a sub-neighbourhood of the neighbourhood of Kaarela in Helsinki, Finland. Kannelmäki is located a bit more than ten kilometres from the centre of Helsinki, and is bounded by Kehä I in the south, Hämeenlinnanväylä in the east, and the Mätäjoki river in the west and north. It is a part of the Western major district. In early 2006, Kannelmäki had 12 488 inhabitants. The streets in Kannelmäki are named after music and villages in Ostrobothnia. The area was originally named ''Vanhainen – Gamlas'', which comes from the village of Gamlas originally located at the site, and its Finnish translation. Kamppi
Kamppi () is a neighbourhood in the centre of Helsinki, the capital of Finland. The name originally referred to a small area known as the "Kamppi field" (see below), but according to the current official designation, "Kamppi" encompasses a much larger area with a population of 10,000 in 2004. The heart of Kamppi is a part of the Central Business District. However, in stark contrast to the other districts of central Helsinki, development in Kamppi was sporadic and the very centre of Kamppi remained entirely undeveloped until 2002. The name "Kamppi" is derived from the Swedish word for battle, '' kamp''. Under Russian rule in the 19th century, Kamppi was mainly used as a military area by Russian forces, with barracks and training fields, which the name refers to. Kallio (district)
Kallio (; sv, Berghäll; literally " the rock") is a district and a neighbourhood in Helsinki, the capital of Finland, located on the eastern side of the Helsinki peninsula about one kilometre north from the city centre. It is one of the most densely populated areas in Finland. Kallio is separated from the city centre by the Siltasaarensalmi strait, over which is a bridge called Pitkäsilta ("long bridge"). Traditionally, the bridge symbolizes the divide between the affluent centre and the more working class areas around Kallio. After the forming of the new centre in the 19th century, the city expanded northward. The intense industrialization which began in the 1860s in Helsinki saw the construction of the industrial areas around Sörnäinen harbour and to the workers' district of Kallio, with the area becoming inhabited mostly by factory workers. Kallahti (; sv, Kallvik) is a neighborhood in the Vuosaari district of Helsinki, Finland. The area consists mainly of apartment buildings built between 1991 and 1999. There are 6,854 inhabitants in Kallahti (1 January 2017). Demographics There are a total of 2,642 immigrants in Kallahti, making up nearly 40% of the population. 1,121 come from Europe (16.4%), 798 come from Asia (11.7%), 669 come from Africa (9.8%) and 54 come from elsewhere (0.8%). Kalasatama
Kalasatama ( sv, Fiskehamnen; literally translated "fish port") is a neighbourhood in the city of Helsinki, Finland. The area is officially part of the Sörnäinen district; and like Sörnäinen, Kalasatama is located a little more than one kilometre north from the coastal centre of Helsinki, near the district of Hakaniemi, and the east side of Kalasatama borders the sea. Itäväylä, which leads in the direction of East Helsinki, runs next to Kalasatama. The Isoisänsilta pedestrian and cycling bridge, opened in 2016, connects Kalasatama to the nearby islands of Mustikkamaa, Korkeasaari and Kulosaari. Kalasatama is projected to become a rather densely built-up area - about 25,000 inhabitants expected to come there, about as many as in Kallio. In addition, jobs are planned for Kalasatama for about 10,000 people. Kaivopuisto
Kaivopuisto ( sv, Brunnsparken), nicknamed ''Kaivari'' in Finnish or ''Brunsan'' in Swedish, is one of the oldest and best known parks in central Helsinki, Finland, and also a neighbourhood of about 500 inhabitants where the park is located. Geography To the south, Kaivopuisto borders the Gulf of Finland. To the north is a residential area containing the official private residences of several ambassadors of foreign countries to Finland, including the United States, Estonia, Spain, France, Belgium, Brazil, Italy, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. Description Kaivopuisto offers several hectares of parks, both on flat ground, and on cliffs. The park also includes traces of stone fortifications built in the 18th century. Kaisaniemi
Kaisaniemi ( sv, Kajsaniemi) is a part of the centre of Helsinki, Finland. It is located immediately north of the Helsinki Central railway station and south of Hakaniemi. The most famous part of Kaisaniemi is the Kaisaniemi park, a park covering many hectares right in the city centre. Kaisaniemi is part of the Vironniemi district and neighbourhood of Kluuvi. The Kaisaniemi district was first founded in the 1820s when Catharina "Cajsa" Wahllund founded a restaurant in the city centre. The restaurant, which survives to this day, later gave its name to the entire district. The reason for the similarity between the Finnish and Swedish names is that unlike almost every other district in central Helsinki, Kaisaniemi got a Finnish name first, and that name was copied into Swedish, with only a minor orthographic change. Kaartinkaupunki
Kaartinkaupunki ( sv, Gardesstaden) is a Subdivisions of Helsinki#Neighbourhoods, neighbourhood in the southern part of Helsinki, Finland. Kaartinkaupunki consists of the area between the Esplanadi park and the Tähtitornin vuori park. Its area was first confirmed in 1812, but the neighbourhood was only named in 1959. It is neighbourhood number 3 in Helsinki, belonging to the Ullanlinna district and to the Southern main district. Kaartinkaupunki was named after the old Russian army barracks located near Kasarmitori. The oldest part of the barracks was built in 1822. It was originally built as a residence for the Helsinki training battalion, which later became the Guard of Finland. The neighbourhood has a land area of . Jätkäsaari (; sv, Busholmen) is a peninsula and a Subdivisions of Helsinki#Neighbourhoods, quarter in Helsinki, the capital city of Finland. It is part to the Kampinmalmi district and Länsisatama neighbourhood. It was the location of the main container harbour in Helsinki until late 2008, when the harbour moved to the Vuosaari harbour, new facilities in Vuosaari.
