Gentofte () is a district of Gentofte Municipality in the northern suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. Major landmarks include Gentofte Town Hall, Gentofte Hospital and Gentofte Church. Gentofte Lake with surrounding parkland and nature reserves form the most important greenspace. Geography Gentofte is roughly bounded by Lyngbyvej to the west, the S-train line to Hillerød to the northeast, Bernstorffsvej to the east and Kildegårdsvej to the south. The southern border with Hellerup is, however, not clearly defined. Gentofte postal district has a somewhat different definition. Gentofte Sportspark
Gentofte Sportspark (formerly Gentofte Stadion) is a multi-purpose stadium in Gentofte near Copenhagen, Denmark. The stadium holds 15,000 people. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Hellerup IK. Other sports clubs based in the sports park include the ice hockey team Gentofte Stars and the badminton club Gentofte BK. The stadium has also been used for concerts. Gentofte Municipality
Gentofte Kommune is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in the Capital Region of Denmark (''Region Hovedstaden'') on the east coast of the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. It covers an area of , and has a total population of 74,548 (1 April 2014). Since 17 May 2021, its mayor has been Michael Fenger, a member of the Conservative People's Party (''Det Konservative Folkeparti''). Gentofte Town Hall
Gentofte Town Hall ( Danish: Gentofte Rådhus) is the administrative centre of Gentofte Municipality in the northern suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. The main building is from 1939 and is situated on Bernstorffsvej. Gentofte Fire Station is situated next to the town hall. History Gentofte's former town hall was from 1903. It was located at the corner of L.E. Bruunsvej and Rådhusvej and had already been too small 15 years after it was inaugurated. In 1934, the civil parish of Gentofte (Gentofte Sognekommune) obtained a status similar to that of a market town. Gentofte's first mayor became colonel Parkov. It was decided to build a new town hall and the architect Thorvald Jørgensen was selected for the project. A site on Bernstorffsvej was selected for the new building. It had become free after a farm, Maltegården, had been destroyed in a fire a few years earlier. The new town hall was inaugurated on 17 December 1936. The site The neighbourhood at Mitchellsstræde is the remains of the so-called Bondeby. The oldest of the houses is from 1728. Gentofte Hospital
Gentofte Hospital (Copenhagen University Hospital Gentofte) is located in Gentofte within Copenhagen in Denmark. Administratively, it is part of the hospital service of Region Hovedstaden. The hospital primarily serves the municipalities of Gentofte, Lyngby-Taarbæk, and Rudersdal, with a population of about 175,000. History The hospital was opened in 1927. Facilities and departments As one of the university hospitals for Copenhagen University (the hospital is also a teaching hospital for medical students from the university), the hospital has extensive research and training facilities.
