Gensho (album)
is the fourth collaborative studio album and seventh release by the Japanese experimental band Boris and noise musician Merzbow. It is presented in two parts; the first disc features re-recordings of several Boris songs and a cover of the My Bloody Valentine song "Sometimes" in drone-based, drumless style, while the second disc consists of new compositions by Merzbow. They are intended to be played at the same time, much like the previous Boris double album '' Dronevil'', or as separate works. Initial teasers were posted at the start of the year, most prominently a live clip of "Huge" from the Fever performance on January 21. ''Rolling Stone'' announced YouTube streams of "Heavy Rain" and its accompanying section of "Goloka pt. 1" on February 5, 2016. Boris (band)
is a Japanese band formed in 1992 in Tokyo and composed of drummer Atsuo, guitarist/bassist Takeshi, and guitarist/keyboardist Wata. All three members contribute vocals. Boris has released more than twenty studio albums on various labels around the world, as well as a wide variety of live albums, compilations, EPs, singles, and collaborative albums. They have collaborated with acts such as Sunn O))), Merzbow, Keiji Haino, and guitarist Michio Kurihara. History Boris was originally a four-piece band with Atsuo on lead vocals, Wata on guitar, Takeshi on bass, and Nagata on drums. ''Dronevil'' is the eighth studio album by the Japanese experimental band Boris. It is a double album: the first LP, ''Drone'', showcases a more ambient sound, while the second LP, ''Evil'', showcases a heavy guitar-oriented doom metal sound. Though the two sides can be heard separately, the original intention is for both to be played simultaneously. The album was originally released on double vinyl with the artwork for this release done by Stephen O'Malley of Sunn O))). 1,000 copies were pressed of this album, 200 of which were printed on grey vinyl with the other 800 copies pressed on black vinyl. The album was re-released through Inoxia Records in 2006 under the name ''Dronevil -Final-'' on (double) CD format, remastered by Jason Lescalleet. ''Noise'' is the nineteenth studio album by Japanese rock band Boris. The Japanese edition of the album was released on 18 June 2014 via Avex Group's sub-label Tearbridge Records and consists of the original album plus other songs previously released on other endeavors, such as "Kimi no Yukue" which was used for a promotional video for the Chunsoft video game '' Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward'' in Japan. ''Rainbow'' is a collaborative album between Japanese rock band Boris and guitarist Michio Kurihara. Wata contributed vocals to the title song, which has a music video made for it by Foodunited. The album's initial release was done by Pedal Records, with liner notes in Portuguese. Drag City released this album in the United States on May 15, 2007 with a different 9th track, on CD format only. In 2007, the album was also released on vinyl in two forms by Inoxia Records: an unlimited LP which contains the album (same as Pedal CD version), and a double LP box set with a 50-page photo book in a special cover, the album on clear vinyl, a second LP containing two bonus ambient tracks (also on clear vinyl), and a DVD featuring the music video for "Rainbow". Amplifier Worship
''Amplifier Worship'' is the second album by Japanese band Boris. Excluding the "one-long-song" albums, this is one of only two Boris full-lengths to have vocals on every song (the other being 2008's ''Smile''), and the first time that Takeshi performed lead vocals for the band (although Atsuo performs lead vocals on "Huge"). "Vomitself" was written and laid down separately at Sound Square while the other four songs were recorded at Sound Crew. According to Japanese production company FoodUnited, videos were shot for "Hama" and "Kuruimizu" but were not released to the public. The Southern Lord vinyl issue features new artwork but uses the same crossfading despite the track order change and the inability to segue across sides; these issues are solved either with new crossfades (the two songs on side A) or cut offs (the rest of the sides). ''Pink'' is the tenth album by Japanese experimental music band Boris. It was originally released in 2005 through Diwphalanx Records in Japan and subsequently reissued in 2006 by American label Southern Lord Records. The album received favorable reviews, particularly for incorporating more melody into the band's abrasive sound. The album's length was extended significantly on the LP version of the album. For the 2006 reissue of ''Pink'', the album's cover art, track order, and length were modified from the original version released in Japan in 2005. Additionally, a music video was shot for the title track which was limited to 100 copies on DVD. Man is a rock band from Wales. Formed in November 1968 as a reincarnation of the Welsh vocal group the Bystanders, Man is renowned for the extended jams during their live performances. The Bystanders Man evolved out of the Bystanders, a successful close harmony pop group from Merthyr Tydfil who played in numerous club residencies in Wales, often playing at several clubs a night.
