Genshiken
is a Japanese manga series by Shimoku Kio about a college club for ''otaku'' (extremely obsessed fans of various media) and the lifestyle its members pursue. The title is a shortening of the club's official name, , or "The Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture". The series has also been adapted into an anime directed by Tsutomu Mizushima. The manga originally ran in Kodansha's monthly manga anthology ''Afternoon (magazine), Afternoon'' from April 2002 to May 2006, and has been reprinted in nine tankōbon, bound volumes. The ninth and final volume was released in Japan in December 2006. A two-part short bonus story was included across both volumes of the ''Kujibiki Unbalance (2006 series), Kujibiki Unbalance'' manga, published 2006/7. Kujibiki Unbalance
is a three-episode original video animation spin-off of ''Genshiken'' series, as well as a series of three light novels by ''Genshiken'' anime collaborator Michiko Yokote. Within the world of ''Genshiken'', however, ''Kujibiki Unbalance'' is a popular manga and 26-episode anime adaptation, which is eagerly watched and discussed by the main characters. These same characters also purchase associated products and adult-oriented dojinshi based on the series, which constitute the motivation for some of the "club activities" held by the Genshiken. Kujibiki Unbalance (2006 Series)
is a 2006 anime series produced by Ajia-do Animation Works, initially based on the story within a story ''Kujibiki Unbalance'' that originated from Shimoku Kio's manga ''Genshiken''. It is directed by Tsutomu Mizushima and written by Michiko Yokote. It aired in Kids Station in Japan from October 6 to December 22, 2006. Notably different from the ''Genshiken'' version, it features redesigned characters and a new, yet familiar plot line. Palm Studio
was a Japanese animation studio located in Suginami, Tokyo. History The studio was founded in March 1999 by Triangle Staff former member Katsumi Yamaguchi and its first production was the film ''A Tree of Palme'' in 2001. Directed by Takashi Nakamura, the film was an official selection of the 2002 Berlin Film Festival. Kinji Yoshimoto
was a Japanese animator, producer, writer and director. Some of his major works include ''Megazone 23'' and ''Plastic Little''. He also directed several of the ''Queen's Blade'' anime series, as well as anime adaptations for '' I Couldn't Become a Hero, So I Reluctantly Decided to Get a Job.'' and ''Unbreakable Machine-Doll'', and is known for his manga and anime productions with manga artist Satoshi Urushihara. The two along with Yoshihiro Kimura created their own production company called Earthwork. Yoshimoto died on 5 November 2021. was a Japanese animation studio based in Suginami, Tokyo and active from 1996 to 2020. History The studio was formed on November 18, 1996 from a merger between Dandelion (founded in 1992) and Triple X (founded in 1993). After the merger, the studio continued to credit some of its work under the old names and until 2002, and did some minor work under the name Garyū Studio in the early 2000s.
