Genie Pace
Genie Pace was an American jazz and pop singer of the late 1950s and early 1960s. She and Doris Allen were signed by newly independent New York label Jade Records after its establishment. Her first album ''Love in a Midnight Mood'' album on Jade was followed later the same year by a second album ''Here's Genie'' on Bright Records. In 1960 she released the single ''Just Counting Stars'' In 1961, she was signed to Capitol Records, and at the height of the Pachanga dance craze in the US, released a version of Eduardo Davidson's archetypical Pachanga tune, La Pachanga. Doris Allen (singer)
Doris Allen was an American soul singer. She and Genie Pace were signed to the independent label Jade Records, started by former Bethlehem Records executive Jim Bright, in 1957. Capitol Records, LLC (known legally as Capitol Records, Inc. until 2007) is an American record label distributed by Universal Music Group through its Capitol Music Group imprint. Pachanga
Pachanga is a genre of music which is described as a mixture of son montuno and merengue and has an accompanying signature style of dance. This type of music has a festive, lively style and is marked by jocular, mischievous lyrics. Pachanga originated in Cuba in the 1950s and played an important role in the evolution of Caribbean style music as it is today. Considered a prominent contributor to the eventual rise of salsa, Pachanga itself is an offshoot of Charanga style music. Very similar in sound to Cha-Cha but with a notably stronger down-beat, Pachanga once experienced massive popularity all across the Caribbean and was brought to the United States by Cuban immigrants post World War II. Eduardo Davidson
Eduardo Davidson (1929–1994) Was born Claudio Cuza on October 30, 1929 in Baracoa, Cuba and died June 10, 1994 in New York City, USA. He is best known as the creator of the pachanga, style of music. His 1959 song "La Pachanga (song), La Pachanga" hybridized Afro-Cuban Lucumí and Bembé rhythms from their Nigerian Yoruba traditions, pairing them with Brazilian Samba. Davidson also is credited with choreographing the original form of the Pachanga dance. The song La Pachanga debuted on May 21, 1959 on the CMQ television's musical program “Casino de la Alegria”. Davidson was a writer for the program and specifically wrote it for vocalist Ruben Rios and chose Orquesta Sublime to play the instrumentation. "La Pachanga" is a 1959 song by Eduardo Davidson, which is considered the classic example of the pachanga genre. Hugo & Luigi were an American record producing team, made up of songwriters and producers Hugo Peretti and Luigi Creatore, who shared an office in New York's Brill Building. Besides their working relationship, they were cousins. Audrey Arno (born Adrianna Medini; March 7, 1942 – June 9, 2012) was a German singer and actress. Her biggest success was in France in the 1960s, where for a time she was known simply as Audrey. Biography Adrianna Medini was born on March 7, 1942 (or March 17, according to some sources) in Mannheim, Germany. In her youth, she was a horse artist in a circus. In 1960, she got a recording contract in France. Her first recordings were issued as an EP titled ''L’Homme et la femme''. She followed it up with other EPs, ''Printemps'' and ''É vero''. In the meantime, she also recorded in Germany with Hazy Osterwald. One of her recordings with the Hazy Osterwald Sextet was ''Wieder mal Paschanga (Die Musik aus Caracas)''.
