Geneviève Sorya
Geneviève Sorya (born Geneviève Marie Thérèse Durand; 23 June 1912 – 23 March 2008) was a French stage and film actress. She was also known as the mother of actress Anouk Aimée. Sorya performed in over 15 films, including '' The End of the Day'', and ''The Man of the Hour'' (1937) with Maurice Chevalier although she was primarily a stage actress in her native Paris. In 1981 she appeared in the film ''What Puts David'' with her daughter. Sorya was the daughter of André Hippolyte Durand and Émilie Marguerite Mélanie (''née'' Boussiron) Durand. She was married to French actor Henry Murray (born Henri Dreyfus), with whom she had a daughter, who became actress Anouk Aimée. Nicole Françoise Florence Dreyfus (born 27 April 1932), known professionally as Anouk Aimée () or Anouk, is a French film actress, who has appeared in 70 films since 1947, having begun her film career at age 14. In her early years, she studied acting and dance besides her regular education. Although the majority of her films were French, she also made films in Spain, Great Britain, Italy and Germany, along with some American productions. Among her films are Federico Fellini's ''La Dolce Vita'' (1960), after which she was considered a "rising star who exploded" onto the film world. The End Of The Day
''The End of the Day'' (french: La fin du jour) is a 1939 French drama film directed by Julien Duvivier and starring Victor Francen, Michel Simon and Louis Jouvet. It was shot at the Epinay Studios in Paris and on location around the city as well as at the Château de Lourmarin in Provence. The film's sets were designed by the art director Jacques Krauss. Plot Monsieur St. Clair (Louis Jouvet), an aging romantic leading man, has decided to retire from the stage, but he is broke and goes to an old-age home for elderly actors. There he meets the other retired actors, all of whom know each other from having worked the same places over the years. One actor, Marny (Victor Francen), is a melancholy soul primarily because years ago his wife left him to have a fling with St. Clair and died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Maurice Chevalier
Maurice Auguste Chevalier (; 12 September 1888 – 1 January 1972) was a French singer, actor and entertainer. He is perhaps best known for his signature songs, including " Livin' In The Sunlight", " Valentine", "Louise", " Mimi", and "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" and for his films, including ''The Love Parade'', ''The Big Pond'', ''The Smiling Lieutenant'', '' One Hour with You'' and ''Love Me Tonight''. His trademark attire was a boater hat and tuxedo. Chevalier was born in Paris. He made his name as a star of musical comedy, appearing in public as a singer and dancer at an early age before working in menial jobs as a teenager.
