Geneva County
Geneva County is a county located in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Alabama. As of the 2020 census, the population was 26,659. Its county seat is Geneva. The county was named after its county seat, which in turn was named after Geneva, New York which was named after Geneva, Switzerland, by Walter H. Yonge, an early town resident and Swiss native. Geneva County is a dry county in certain areas. Beer and wine are sold in Geneva, Samson, and Slocomb, but it isn't sold in any capacity in Hartford. Geneva County is part of the Dothan, AL Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Geneva County was established on December 26, 1868. The county was declared a disaster area in September 1979 due to damage from Hurricane Frederic. Geneva is a City (New York), city in Ontario County, New York, Ontario and Seneca County, New York, Seneca counties in the U.S. state of New York (state), New York. It is at the northern end of Seneca Lake (New York), Seneca Lake; all land portions of the city are within Ontario County; the water portions are in Seneca County. State Route 103 (Alabama)
State Route 103 (SR 103) is a state highway in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Alabama. The highway begins at the Florida state line and is a continuation of County Road 171 (formerly a state road). The northern terminus of the highway is at an intersection with SR 123 in Wicksburg, an unincorporated community north of the Geneva–Houston County line. Route description SR 103 travels primarily through eastern Geneva County. It is one of numerous highways that enter Alabama from the Florida Panhandle. Upon entering Alabama, the highway heads northward, traveling primarily through rural areas of the county along a two-lane roadway. State Route 54 (SR 54) is a state highway in the extreme southern part of the U.S. state of Alabama. The western terminus of the highway is at an intersection with U.S. Route 331 (US 331) at Florala just north of the Florida state line. The eastern terminus of the highway is at an intersection with SR 52 just west of Samson. Route description SR 54 is routed along a two-lane road as it traverses Covington and Geneva counties. From Florala, the highway travels in a generally east–west orientation. State Route 52 (SR 52) is an state highway in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Alabama. The western terminus of the highway is at an intersection with U.S. Route 331 (US 331) at Opp. The eastern terminus of the highway is at the Georgia state line east of Columbia, where the highway crosses over the Chattahoochee River and enter Hilton, Georgia as Georgia State Route 62 (SR 62). Route description SR 52 serves as a parallel route of US 84. Beginning at Opp, SR 52 assumes a southeastward trajectory as it heads towards Samson in western Geneva County.
