Genesis High School is a secondary alternative school located in Bastrop, Texas, in the Bastrop Independent School District. The school serves all of BISD, including the cities of Bastrop, Cedar Creek, Red Rock, Rockne, Paige and other rural areas of Bastrop County. Bastrop () is a city and the county seat of Bastrop County, Texas, United States. The population was 9,688 according to the 2020 census. It is located about southeast of Austin and is part of the Greater Austin metropolitan area. History Spanish soldiers lived temporarily at the current site of Bastrop as early as 1804, when a fort was established where the Old San Antonio Road crossed the Colorado River and named ''Puesta del Colorado''. Bastrop's namesake, Felipe Enrique Neri, Baron de Bastrop, was a commoner named Philip Hendrik Nering Bogel, who was wanted for embezzlement in his native country of the Netherlands. In Texas, he assisted Moses and Stephen F. Austin in obtaining land grants in Texas and served as Austin's land commissioner. Rockne is an unincorporated area, unincorporated community in Bastrop County, Texas, Bastrop County, Texas, United States. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had a population of 400 in 2000. It is located within the Greater Austin metropolitan area. History Rockne started with German Americans, German settlers, such as the Lehman family, sometime before 1846. The first church included another community called Meuth, Texas, Meuth, but was eventually separated. Seven families began to worship in the community. The first service was held at Phillip Goertz's home in 1876 and a church was built in the area after the land was donated by him and his wife, Catherine, alongside Michael and Rebecca Wolf. Paige is an unincorporated community in Bastrop County, Texas, United States. Paige has a post office with the ZIP code 78659. Namesake Paige, Texas was named after Paige Broderick, a civil engineer who planned the route of Houston and Texas Central Railway. History Paige was created in 1872 near the Houston and Texas Central Railway. The post office of Paige was created in 1874, and in 1876, the railway station near the town was moved three miles east to the location of the current station. In 1877, Fedor Soder arrived in the town and sold many town lots to Germans. He also created a store and a cotton gin, as the town was growing due to massive production of cotton in the area. The population of Paige in 1884 was about 350 citizens, and it jumped to 500 in 1886.
