Gene Monahan
Gene Monahan (born October 24, 1945) is the former head athletic trainer for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball. He spent 38 years with the Yankees organization and from 1973 until 2011 and was part of their training staff. During his tenure Monahan cared for the players on seven World Championship teams, 11 Pennant winning teams and 19 post-season teams. Since 2011, he has served as a consultant for NASCAR team Hendrick Motorsports as part of the team's pit crew staff, having cared for the pit crews on the 2013 Sprint Cup and 2014 second division (now Xfinity) teams under the Hendrick auspices. Spring training is the preseason in Major League Baseball (MLB), a series of practices and exhibition games preceding the start of the regular season. Pit Stop
In motorsports, a pit stop is a pause for refuelling, new tyres, repairs, mechanical adjustments, a driver change, as a penalty, or any combination of the above. These stops occur in an area called the pits, most commonly accessed via a pit lane which runs parallel to the start/finish straightaway of the track and is connected to it at each end. Along this lane is a row of garages (typically one per team or car) outside which the work is done in a ''pit box''. Old-Timers' Day (or Old-Timers' Game) refers to a tradition in Major League Baseball where a team devotes the early afternoon preceding a weekend game to honor retired players who played for the organization during their careers. The retired players play in an exhibition game, usually lasting about three innings.
