Gene Dubuque
Eugene Earl Dubuque (December 11, 1927 – March 13, 1974), known by the ring name Magnificent Maurice and Gene Dubuque, was an American professional wrestler and bodybuilder who wrestled mainly during his career for WWE, World Wide Wrestling Federation between 1963-1969, and 1971 and teamed most of his career with Johnny Barend. Professional wrestling career Early career Dubuque was born in 1927 to American and Russian parents. He was an amateur bodybuilder, winning the 1947 Mr. New York City contest and turned into pro wrestling in 1949 in wrestling in New York City. He later went to Texas, San Francisco, Hawaii, and Stampede Wrestling in Calgary, Canada. On June 24, 1957 he lost to Ilio DiPaolo in a Best out of three falls in Los Angeles. Professional wrestling is a form of theater that revolves around staged wrestling matches. The mock combat is performed in a ring similar to the kind used in boxing, and the dramatic aspects of pro wrestling may be performed both in the ring or—as in televised wrestling shows—in backstage areas of the venue, in similar form to reality television. Professional wrestling as a form of theater evolved out of the widespread practice of match fixing among wrestlers in the early 20th century. Wahoo McDaniel
Edward Hugh McDaniel (June 19, 1938 – April 18, 2002) was an American Choctaw-Chickasaw professional American football player and professional wrestler better known by his ring name Wahoo McDaniel. He is notable for having held the NWA United States Heavyweight Championship five times. McDaniel was a major star in the American Wrestling Association and prominent National Wrestling Alliance affiliated promotions such as Championship Wrestling from Florida, Georgia Championship Wrestling, NWA Big Time Wrestling and, most notably, Jim Crockett Promotions. McDaniel is often compared to his contemporary, Chief Jay Strongbow, due to both portraying similar Native American gimmicks. Fritz Von Goering (born John Gabor ) is an American retired professional wrestler, known for playing a heel (professional wrestling), villainous German character in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. Biography John Gabor was born in Chicago, Illinois, to an Irish-American family. In 1939, his family relocated to the south of San Francisco, when he was about 10. He became interested in combat fighting at a young age when his uncle brought him to boxing matches and he grew to admire profession wrestlers such as Lou Thesz and Bobby Managoff, both of whom he would wrestle with later in his career. The Detroit version of the NWA World Tag Team Championship was the top ranked professional wrestling championship for tag teams in the Detroit, Michigan-based promotion Big Time Wrestling, sometimes referred to as NWA Detroit, between 1965 and 1980. As a member of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), All-Star Wrestling was entitled to promote their own local version of the championship as the NWA bylaws did not restrict its use in the way they restricted the NWA World Heavyweight Championship to one nationally recognized championship. Because individual NWA members, referred to as NWA territories, were allowed to create their own version of the NWA World Tag Team Championship, at least 22 different versions existed between 1949 and 1991. Big Time Wrestling (also known as NWA Detroit) was a professional wrestling promotion headquartered in Detroit, Michigan in the United States. History Professional wrestling debuted in Detroit in the 1920s when Nick Londos began promoting events in the Detroit Olympia. Londos was succeeded by Adam Weissmueller, then by Louis Markowitz. By the 1930s, multiple promoters were competing in the territory. David Lloyd Wolper (January 11, 1928 – August 10, 2010) was an American television and film producer, responsible for shows such as ''Roots'', ''The Thorn Birds'', and ''North and South'', and the theatrically-released films ''L.A. Confidential'' and ''Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory'' (1971).
