Erik Gustaf Geijer
Erik Gustaf Geijer (12 January 1783 – 23 April 1847) was a Swedish writer, historian, poet, romantic critic of political economy, philosopher, and composer. His writings served to promote Swedish National Romanticism. He was an influential advocate of Liberalism. Biography Geijer was born at Geijersgården, his family's estate in Ransäter, Värmland. He was educated at the gymnasium of Karlstad and then attended the University of Uppsala, where he earned his master's degree in 1806. In 1803 he had competed successfully for an historical prize offered by the Academy of Sciences at Stockholm. In 1809, he traveled in England. The year following, he became a lecturer in history at Uppsala, and in 1815 assistant to Eric Michael Fant. Succeeding Fant, Geijer was a professor of history from 1817 at Uppsala University where a statue now commemorates him. Lennart Geijer
Johan Lennart Geijer (14 September 1909 – 16 June 1999) was a Swedish politician and lawyer. He is mainly remembered for his role in the Geijer affair and for being the Minister for Justice who himself negotiated with the robbers and terrorists in the Norrmalmstorg robbery, the aircraft hijacking at Bulltofta and the bombing of the West German embassy. Early life Geijer was born on 14 September 1909 in Ystad, Sweden, the son of Åke Geijer, a postmaster, and his wife Anna Sylvan. He came from a bourgeois family in Ystad, but was radicalized in the early 1930s, when he studied law in Lund and lived with Waldemar Bülow, August Strindberg's old friend. Geijer passed ''studentexamen'' in Karlskrona in 1928. During the years of study in Lund in the late 1920s, early 1930s, he was a member of the Swedish Clarté League and had contacts with radicals in Lund at the time, not least Tage Erlander. Eric Neville Geijer
Eric Neville Geijer (1894–1941) was a decorated Guards officer, royal herald, and genealogist. He was the second son of the Swedish diplomat Carl Emmanuel von Geijer and his English wife, Lila Lucy, née White (daughter of William Arthur White). Educated at Wellington College and Trinity College, Cambridge. He was a cadet in the Wellington College Contingent of the Officer Training Corps. On 26 November 1914 he was naturalized as a subject of the United Kingdom, serving in the British Army during the First World War. Initially a second lieutenant in the Hampshire Regiment, from February 1917 he was attached to the Grenadier Guards, serving with distinction. Geijer was awarded the Military Cross in 1918, for leading a patrol that entered an enemy position under heavy machine-gun fire, and briefly attained the rank of acting captain. Agnes Geijer
Agnes Geijer (26 October 1898 – 17 July 1989) was a Swedish textile historian and archaeologist. Life Geijer became the head of the textile conservation atelier ''Pietas'' in 1930. She received a doctoral degree from Uppsala University in 1938, and became employed at the Swedish History Museum in 1941. She was active there from 1947 as a textile conservator. Geijer died in 1989. Arne Geijer
Arne Geijer (born 7 May 1910, in Söderala, Söderhamn Municipality, Hälsingland, died 27 January 1979 in Bromma, Stockholm) was a Swedish trade union organizer. Geijer left school when he was thirteen and began working in agriculture. He later completed an apprenticeship as a toolmaker, and joined the Swedish Metalworkers' Union. At the age of 28 he began working full-time for the union as its director of education, and in 1945 he won election as its general secretary, also taking up a position of the council of the International Metalworkers' Federation. In 1955, Geijer was elected to the upper house of the Riksdag, representing the Swedish Social Democratic Party. The following year, he won election as chair of the Swedish Trade Union Confederation, and from 1957 he held these two posts alongside being president of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions.
