The Kids From 47A
''The Kids from 47A'' is a British children's television series produced by Associated Television. Three series were made; the first (comprising 15 episodes) was shown in 1973, the second (13 episodes) and third (13 episodes) in 1974. The third series ends with Jess (Christine McKenna) getting married. A one-off episode (promoted as a comedy and entitled "Home Sweet Home") was broadcast on 31 August 1975. Plot The series is about four children whose widowed mother is taken into hospital, leaving them to cope on their own. The eldest—office worker Jess Gathercole—becomes the family matriarch, making every effort to keep her schoolchild sister and brothers at home with her. At the start of the second series, the Gathercole mother has died and Jess is only able to keep the family together after battling with social services, who continue to keep a watchful eye. ''A Little Princess'' (1973) is a lost BBC television mini-series directed by Derek Martinus, based upon the 1905 novel '' A Little Princess'' by Frances Hodgson Burnett. This version is noted for being very faithful to the original novel. It ran on the Sunday tea-time slot, where at the time the BBC often ran faithful adaptations of classic novels. It was originally broadcast in six 25-minute episodes on BBC 1, 18 February to 25 March 1973. It was also licensed for distribution by 20th Century-Fox Television, for use on ABC affiliates in the United States. Despite its success and faithfulness to the novel, the master videotapes for the adaptation were wiped after broadcast, and no copies are known to exist. ''Crossroads'' (later known as ''Crossroads Motel'' and ''Crossroads King's Oak'') is a British television soap opera that ran on ITV (TV network), ITV over two periods – the original 1964 to 1988 run, followed by a short revival from 2001 to 2003. Set in a fictional motel (hotel in the revival) in the Midlands, ''Crossroads'' became a byword for cheap production values, particularly in the 1970s and early 1980s. Despite this, the series regularly attracted huge audiences during this time, with ratings as high as 15 million viewers.
