Christopher Banks
Christopher Banks (born Christopher Rainbow in 1977) is a New Zealand journalist, musician, record producer, songwriter and film-maker. Music Deep Obsession Banks was responsible for eight top 30 New Zealand hits (including three #1's) for three different acts between 1998 and 2002. In 1997, he and producer Michael Lloyd formed what would become one of New Zealand's most successful pop groups, Deep Obsession, with singer/songwriter Zara Clark and Vanessa Kelly. A year later, they were the first New Zealand act to be signed direct to Universal Music and their debut single " Lost in Love" was a number 1 hit. The Society for Promotion of Community Standards Inc. ("SPCS") is a conservative lobby group in New Zealand. A registered charity and incorporated society, the Society has taken a strong pro-censorship stance and clashed many times with the Office of Film and Literature Classification. They have also advocated socially conservative positions on issues such as abortion, euthanasia and same-sex marriage. History The society was founded in 1970 by Patricia Bartlett, a former nun of the Roman Catholic Order of the Sisters of Mercy. She retired from the organisation in 1996. Civil Unions In New Zealand
Civil union has been legal in New Zealand since 26 April 2005. The Civil Union Act 2004 to establish the institution of civil union for same-sex and opposite-sex couples was passed by the Parliament on 9 December 2004. The Act has been described as very similar to the Marriage Act 1955 with references to "marriage" replaced by "civil union". A companion bill, the Relationships (Statutory References) Act, was passed shortly thereafter on 15 March 2005, to remove discriminatory provisions on the basis of relationship status from a range of statutes and regulations. Auckland Pride Festival
The Auckland Pride Festival is an annual festival held in Auckland, New Zealand. It began in 2013 and is New Zealand's largest Pride Festival. The festival has also brings together a number of other queer and queer supporting festivals and events in Auckland. They include the Same But Different Festival, Auckland Council's Proud Centres, Ending HIV NZ Big Gay Out, F.I.N.E Festival, Heroic Gardens (until 2019), and Bear Week New Zealand (until 2019). Alongside the annual festival, Auckland Pride also hosts 'The Queer Agenda', a year-long programme of events that allow people to have a taste of pride outside of the festival dates.
