Gavin Cobb
Gavin Cobb (born January 28, 1998) is a Canadian professional gridiron football wide receiver for the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). University career Cobb first played college football, NCAA football for the Simon Fraser Red Leafs football, Simon Fraser Clan from 2016 to 2019, while using a redshirt (college sports), redshirt season in 2018. He then transferred to the University of Manitoba, where he would be able to finish his degree faster, played for the Manitoba Bisons football, Bisons of U Sports football. However, Cobb did not play in 2020 due to the cancelled 2020 U Sports football season. In 2021 U Sports football season, 2021, he played in six regular season games and two post-season games where he had 27 receptions for 340 yards and five touchdowns. 2021 U Sports Football Season
The 2021 U Sports football season began on August 28, 2021, with the Sherbrooke Vert et Or hosting the Montreal Carabins in Sherbrooke, Quebec. The Atlantic University Sport conference began play on September 17, 2021, and ten Ontario University Athletics teams opened their seasons on September 18, 2021. The Canada West conference began their regular season last with all six teams playing on September 25, 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada, all conferences except the RSEQ played six regular season games while the RSEQ played eight. Tre Ford (born March 30, 1998) is a Canadian football quarterback for the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was named a Hec Crighton Trophy winner in 2021 as U Sports football's most outstanding player and won the Lois and Doug Mitchell Award as U Sports top male university athlete. The BC Lions are a professional Canadian football team based in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Saskatchewan Roughriders are a professional Canadian football team based in Regina, Saskatchewan. 2023 Edmonton Elks Season
The 2023 Edmonton Elks season was the 65th season for the team in the Canadian Football League and their 74th overall. After an 0–9 start to the season, the Elks were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention following their week 18 loss to the Toronto Argonauts. The team's 2023 season was the second under the second tenure of head coach and general manager, Chris Jones. The Elks struggled on the field and started the season 0–7 for the first time in franchise history. The only other Edmonton-based senior football team to start a season 0–7 was the 1938 Edmonton Eskimos who went winless in the then-eight-game Western Interprovincial Football Union season.
