Dominique Gaumont (8 January 1953 – 10 November 1983) was a French jazz guitarist who played alongside notable musicians such as Miles Davis, the Art Ensemble of Chicago, and Michel Portal. Biography Dominique Gaumont was born on 8 January 1953 in Saint-Mandé, Paris, son of Édouard Gaumont, a former Guyanese politician. After his musical studies, he became attracted to the electric guitar, in particular Jimi Hendrix, and began playing in public in 1970. In 1974, he was invited by the trumpeter Miles Davis to join his band and tour the United States. Davis was quoted as saying, "Dominique gave me that African rhythmic thing". Léon Ernest Gaumont (; 10 May 1864 – 10 August 1946) was a French inventor, engineer, and industrialist who was a pioneer of the motion picture industry. He founded the world’s first and oldest film studio Gaumont Film Company, and worked in partnership with Solax Studios. Marcel Gaumont
Marcel Gaumont was a French sculptor born on 27 January 1880 in Tours. He died in Paris on 20 November 1962. Biography Gaumont was a pupil at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris and studied under Louis-Ernest Barrias, François-Léon Sicard and Jules Coutan. He was the joint winner of the 1908 "Prix de Rome" along with Camille Crenier and this took him to Rome's Villa Médicis from 1909 to 1912. He exhibited regularly at the Salon de la Société des artistes français and in 1935 won their gold medal. In 1937 his four Metopes won the major prize at the Exposition internationale de Paris. These works had decorated the western façade of the Palais de Tokyo at that exhibition. In 1938 he was made an officer of the "Légion d'honneur". In 1939 he became professor at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and in 1944 he was elected to the French Académie des Beaux-Arts taking the chair vacated by Paul Gasq. Philippe Gaumont
Philippe Gaumont (22 February 1973 – 17 May 2013) was a French professional road racing cyclist. He earned a bronze medal in the 1992 Summer Olympics, 100 km team time trial. In 1997 he won the Belgian classic Gent–Wevelgem and he was twice individual pursuit French national champion, in 2000 and 2002. In 2004, Gaumont quit professional cycling and later ran a café in Amiens. Gaumont was well known for having confessed to extensive doping and explaining many tricks of the trade. Gaumont gave a series of interviews, and wrote a book, ''Prisonnier du dopage'' ("Prisoner of doping") in which he explained doping methods, masking methods, the use of drug cocktails such as the pot belge for training and for recreation, and how the need to make money makes racers dope themselves.
